Anyone know a good one that is cheap?

Screen size isn't important, neither is battery life. Just need something that will play a DVD on the road.

Why don't you get a small PMP and then rip the dvds? I use a Cowon D2 and I rip the dvds with their software and put them on an SDHC card. You can buy huge SDHC cards for cheap. I have an 8GB and it was like $16. The D2 is very small, light, multi-functional, DVD, MP3, Radio, DMB and a variety of functions. A movie rips down to about 250mb so you can get tons of movies/tv shows on an SDHC card.

How long does it take to rip a dvd movie to D2 format? It takes about 30mins for me to convert one hour tv shows already in avi format.

It usually takes me about 20 minutes to rip a DVD to D2 format. However, it takes a bit less if you are just converting an avi file like a downloaded torrent. Time also depends on how fast you computer runs.
