Not to do 3 posts in a row, but I should also note that maybe there were more negative stories on the McCain campaign because well, there were more negative things to report on such as:

-Palin's dumb remarks and bad interviews
-Her wardrobe fiasco
-McCain bailing out on Letterman, and making an emergency run to DC
-The bigotry that was to be found at many rallies
-The "unamerican" crap that the McCain campaign pathetically tried to use.

Anyway, you get the idea.

Lots of stuff to talk about besides George Bush:

The Daily Show is also half about serious interviews and those aren't going anywhere.

For those that call Stewart excessively partisan, let's not forget that he was one of the last holdouts for McCain because he personally liked him so much and had him on the show all the time. Stewart was one of the only people that gave McCain some airtime during the primaries when it looked like his campaign was going to just vanish. Here he is in September 2007:

Of course it will still be funny, the funny will just come from other places. It's not like all the hypocrites and self-righteous frauds in politics have disappeared just because the new president isn't a total embarrassment anymore.

I watch it every day pretty much. I think it will be still funny. About half the jokes are about how the media reports the news. I don't think they spent that much time bashing bush.

What's with all the Jon Stewart bashing? He simply is funny. Not everything in life has to follow your all so serious agendas.

Quote:
Jon Stewart mocked W. Bush for eight years. Those who shared his politics defended it as "humor." But no matter what you call it, I do not see much more substance to him than this. And given his politics, I do not envision his mocking B. Obama for the next four to eight years. In any case, it does not matter to me where he goes from here. I never watched him or took my news information from him, either.

You don't watch it, you don't get to have an opinion on it.

Have to say I kind of wish there was a McCain/Palin admin. The Colbert Report would have been awesome. He is one very, very funny man.

And hey, I actually watched the show before I came to that conclusion. Go me.

So true...as long as there is a FOX NEWS...there will be a lot of great material to work with!

My built-in, perpetually angry fan-base? Yes.

Relax, JMO. Talk about Jon Stewart without me, if you can. Are you truly that dependent on me to articulate your own views...?

I did.

My only point about your quote, is please watch something before you form an opinion on it.

I'm sure you'll do so in future.

Yea, my favorite is the montages of various channel's reactions to stories. I think Colbert really hits Fox harder than Stewart, especially papa bear.

Very well, then, I see you would like to make this a personal issue and assume an anal-retentive posture, JMO.

I was speaking in the past imperfect and although I meant to say that "I never watched/never used to watch the Daily Show on a regular basis or taken my news information from it as a primary news source" I shorted that and simply said "I never watched him or took my news information from him, either." The fact is, I have watched enough of Jon Stewart and the Daily Show -- one of my roommates was once very much into him -- to know what it is about and to know that I get it but it bores me.

Pleasure talking to you, as always. Hope this clarifies matters for you, although I am sure it will not, and I am equally sure there is an unarticulated sarcastic quip just hanging in the air right now, waiting for you to snatch it and hurl it at me here. Es lo que hay.

As both a Stewart fan and a Gopher fan, I can assure you that The Daily Show is way, way, too low brow for Gopher. Gopher's a Meet the Press, Face the Nation, or Washington Week in Review kind of guy. The McLaughlin Group is probably pushing it in term of edginess.

The Daily Show will continue to be great. If you never liked it before (Kuros), you probably will think it will suck in the future too. About 50% of their stories are mocking Fox News. The other half are about CNN and then the others. And they loved Obama until now, but there was a time when McCain was one of their favourites too. He's been on what, 15 times?

If anything has changed in the last 8 years, it's the dwindling of skits and correspondent segments. Remember Even Stephen with Steve Carell and Stephen Colbert? That was some of the best TV comedy - ever. And they didn't need Bush for that.

I have to admit the Election special was kind of lame, but he came back the next day with a stellar show. As far as the serious stuff, check out the hits on the Youtube Crossfire video to see how many people agree with you. I thought it was one of the best TV moments of the year, at least. Hell, I'd even say that show was the start of Tucker Carlson's downfall.

As long as cable news is running 24/7 the Daily Show will have plenteeee of material. On the other hand, if for some reason Fox News died and as a result the Daily Show did as well, that may be something I mght be okay with... Laughing
