I teach at an elementary school. There's a group of girls who chase me around the cafeteria and the schoolyard screaming "Teacher! I love you! I love you so much!" I try to discourage them but everything I do only seems to produce the opposite effect. It has been two months of this behaviour with no abate. There haven't been any real problems - excepting once when they stood outside my classroom and banged on the doors and wouldn't go away.
Is it harmless? How should I handle it? |

I've been watching how the Korean teachers at my school deal with kids pestering them. Their faces get a certain stone-like quality that I can only dream of emulating one day. Basically they ignore the kids; no eye-contact, no verbal interaction and certainly no touching/pushing the kids away.
My money's on "annoying but harmless". If there are no real problems, I would just ignore it. Even if they're banging on the door, I would still just ignore it. Unless they're completely simple, they'll eventually get sick of it if they don't get a reaction. |

lol if you reciprocate they'll stop.
She was like "Teacher, wait for me in a few years... I will be old enough." (lol oh god how wrong it sounded) And me being the general jackass wanting to try experiment said : "Umm yeah ok sure" and took her paper made heart and left.
Hasn't bothered me since. I think they like the idea of a unreachable teacher crush. Once you become easy... all the fun of the game is lost. hahaha. I did it to all the other girls and now my rockstar fame is gone. I can read my books in peace. |

Just wait until another younger teacher comes in. Most will turn their attention on that younger teacher. |

So I take it this sort of thing isn't uncommon. On one level that's a relief, but on another, what the hell is up with this country?
