Stay away from this school if you want to have a pleasant experience. I know a girl who worked here and got the boot after five months. She had 2 years of teaching experience, too, which was more time than eveyone else who was still there after she left. Everyone else was in their first year of teaching or just starting the second year. This girl was told that the school was having financial problems, blah blah blah. One guy got fired for sexual harassment after his second month there. I think it was all just an excuse to fire the poor guy because they did not like his New Zealand accent. The big fat girls who work there never had problems. I just think the boss's wife did not like pretty women. She seemed to like big women and men, except for this poor guy. They always ragged on people with an accent that deviated from the norm. And...if you are a woman...never wear perfume to work at ECC Ansan. You will hear about it. The kids will tattle on you and you will be told not to wear any. They had the nerve to fire this girl and tell other teachers she quit. One guy who works there speaks French and the boss told him he needs to learn more English. They hired a guy from Ireland and told him to sound less Irish. One Korean teacher screamed at another teacher in front of other teachers in the teachers' room. He was 34 years old, too by the way. He was angry over the way a test was made. Wow. How professional was that? But, the gal he yelled at got called into the boss's office that night instead of him. She got told by the boss that she could leave if she was not happy there. You better socialize alot at ECC Ansan, too. One girl was told she did not socialize enough. Puhleeze!!! And...don't...talk...slow...either...or...you..will...catch...hell

I hate to have to make a reply here but I just can't hold my tongue. I live in Ansan and know every one of the current teachers at this ECC and also two teachers who will return to work for the school in a few months.
All of these teachers indeed have a pleasant experience at this school, and as I said before, one previous teacher is returning.
With regards to the girl who was fired, all of the teachers know that she was fired, and not that she quit.
Secondly, it is common for directors to ask people to modify their accents, I am Scottish and have no problem with this. It's not just Korean people who have trouble in understanding my accent at times so therefore I just have to do it. It would be nice if I didn't have to do it but there you go.
Maybe I am unqualified to make a reply here but this post has annoyed me and I wanted to make a defence to some extent. The school currently has two very prettygirls working there and they do not seem to have had any problems.
This is all that I can comment on, maybe someone else should take over. You shoudl not make blanket statements based on the experiences of one or two people. Some people actually really enjoy working at this school.

Fair enough Scott, two sides to every story and I'm glad you posted. Princess is clearly hanging with the wrong crowd, making friends with the kind of people who get fired. She's got a little form for this kind of OP.

I never take Princesses obviously slandering comments to heart. Seems she tries her best but she isn't very good at it. Wish she would stop her nonsense.

What? Princess hates another school that we should all look out for? What? Once again it's a story of lies? Shocked, shocked I am.

You change your accent? I too am Scottish, and my director can kiss my dangly ones if he wants me to change my accent. He's already said he wants me to speak like an American. I nodded politely and never changed. Wink

I make minor changes tp my accent (I pronounce "party" as "partay", not "partee", so I've changed that). However, it's pointless to only teach them monotone North American accents. Evil or Very Mad

This argument has been done to death. Suffice to say, none of my kids have a problem understanding my accent - it only takes a few weeks. Th

There are some words the kids just don't get you see. My name for example, they always mistake my 'a' for 'e'. Im not saying that I have adopted a North American but I have had to speak alot more slowly and some of my pronunciations are a bit different. I know people who talk like a native Californian(and are not from California) in class, I just couldn't sleep at night! The kids do get used to it BUT I still have to say some worsds differently, in the same way that I have to say some words differently to English people. I'll say no more on the subject.
