Why's that? Did they marry in kiwiland?

I married in Korea. I had to goto the embassy and get two papers, then we had to goto the GU office, not the dong office. At the GU office we registered our marriage on the Korean family register, and the GU official stamped something on the Canadian documents. Then we went back to the embassy, had some consular come out and stamp our certificate.

So I have it registered in both countries, was pretty painless.

No they married in korea. The New Zealand embassy inisted on translated documents though.

Is this the same guy who gave you hell for talking to strangers in the neighbourhood because it made you look like a woman of questionable morals? Congratulations.

I sense the love here.

Not to pile on Jade, because I'm all about being compassionate a\nd the nicest guy ever, but why marry a Korean-even if he's one fo the 'good ones' we are all part of our enivronment. Why marry into such BS?

I don't even care that much about the feminism thread, but why select a husband who would do that ? You've got smarts, wit, and obvioulsy, boundless optimism for the future

Why does Jade have to defend herself for marrying a Korean guy? The guys who marry Korean women never have to!

Jade doesn't have to defend herself about anything. I'm asking an honest question-if she wants to answer, she will. If she doesn't want to, she won't.

The implied difference is that Korean women are generally treated better relatively speaking by Western Men than Western women are by Korean men.

do you have an attention span?

Congrats!
I'm American too and I just had a wedding ceremony on December 28th in Korea. However, my Korean fianc and I did not file any paperwork there. Instead we took the difficult route and decided to apply for a K-1 visa last year (March 2003). He just got his visa on December 30th and we will be having the real ceremony in Michigan on Feb. 14th of this year.

Wish I could help you more about doing the real paperwork in Korea. I think it's probably easier than the K-1 visa process. All I can say is that the reps at the American Embassy in Seoul were really nice when we finally got there.

Best of luck to you and your fianc.

Andie, for a fairly scientific person, this is not a very scientific statement.

Hence the words generally and relatively.

Andie, I acually had The Corporal in mind when I posted that, following her good example.

Congrats Jade... just some advice.

While at the altar, put down the Nikon and let someone else take the pictures.

On the wedding night, you can take all the photos you want (*laugh*).
