I'm going back to the states, during break, and I found an amazing deal on Air China to JFK, it's over $400 cheaper then the next cheapest flight. But, it's Air China? Should I go with it?
I've flown domestic Chinese airlines before, and they're not the best.
Any experiences? |

| I flew JFK-beijing on air china. There was no entertainment, but the plane was half empty...I had a whole row to myself. No complaints. |

| Air China is a "Star Alliance" airline ... as are Thai Airways, United, Singapore Airlines, Asiana Airlines, to name a few. They must meet standards of efficiency, financial stability, fleet maintenance, customer service, etc. to remain a member of the Star Alliance. So I wouldn't worry about it. |

| I flew Air China from Bangkok to Busan via Beijing a few years back. It was fine. Their planes aren't fancy looking, just black stenciled "Air China" on a bare steel fuselage. Not much leg room, but that's standard anymore. |

"Would you like a pillow, or some melamine sir?"
"Don't worry about the turbulence, the plane is made in China." |

I flew Air China to London and had a very pleasant flight. The food was good and the free Tsingtao was wonderful.
I would recommend them. |

| Like the beer, the Chinese airlines pressurise the cabin with formaldehyde, to keep everyone in their seats. |

| You'll most probably crash within the first few hours...No need to worry about dying in an 18hrs flight |

Don't you have to stay overnight at the Beijing airport with that flight and/or pay for a transfer visa? |

I've decided to take Air Canada instead, it was the closest price to Air China ... even though it was almost $200 more, oh well. I wanted to fly Korean Air, but that was $700 more then Air China.
In regards to transfer in Beijing, I believe it would have only been a 2 1/2 hour lay over and then directly to JFK. Now I have to lay over in Vancouver, I'm kind of scared about that. |

| Air Canada isnt so bad for international flights. Not as many pretty flight attendents like Cathay or Korean Air. More like older ladies or Cojo from Entertainment Tonight looking...ugh |

| They've been buying new planes the last couple of years. You might be getting a brand new Airbus or Boeing. |

a friend returning from Thailand remarked that Air China is the 'dodgiest' plane he had ever been on [/b] |
