Okay my orignal visa was for march 2007 to march 2008 then in march of 2008 I extended my arc to 2009 does that mean the visa in my passport is also somehow extended eventhough the dates remain march 2008? |

What counts is what is written on the back of your ARC. They won't update the date in your passport. It will show up on their computer that it has been extended.
If you are an American, you will need to get a new re-entry visa if you plan on taking a vacation out of the country, as the initial one you were given was only valid for a year. This also applies if you are any other nationality, you will need to get another re-entry visa. |

Your status of sojourn was extended (your permitted period of stay). This is indicated by the mark on the back of your ARC.
Your re-entry privileges from the original visa DO NOT carry over into the extended period. If you want to leave (for a vacation) and return to Korea you MUST get a re-entry permit BEFORE your departure.
Failure to get a re-entry permit WILL result in the LOSS of your status of sojourn and working privilages.
The visa in your passport expired 90 days after it was issued. If you were American it would have had re-entry privileges for 1 year.
