Waaaah! I just broke up with my boyfriend!!!! (jk. Well, sorta.)

But the most important thing is that I'm still going to Indonesia and/or Malaysia this Feb and would like to not have to talk to myself.

I think I'll do Sabah the first two weeks and Sumantra the last two. This trip is for relaxation and diving/snorkeling and appreciating flora and fauna.*

I'm into staying in cheap, natural environments, but I'm a light sleeper, so I appreciate quiet. I like to party and drink, but I'm not into recreational drugs. I don't mind being around expats, but I don't like to be inundated with them (besides, it only leads to the spending of more money). It would simply be nice to share the experience with someone other than myself. I'm a laidback, cool traveler who likes to have a plan, but am willing to wing it. The goal is to spend as little as possible whilst having a blast.

I'd also like to open the thread to others who'd like to arrange travel buddies.

* No, I probably won't have sex with you. Wink

just out of curiousity - do people actually meet up on the internet and then travel together?

it just sounds so - dangerous?? I mean, really, it does.

I don't think I'd travel thru a foreign country with someone I didn't really know. What if they wanted to hide drugs - or even plant them on you??

there could be all kinds of things going on -

I'm not sure you really want to do this, OP.

incidentally, I've traveled quite a few foreign countries on my own, and always managed ok, even actually had fun Wink

Yes.

OMGYOUTRAVELEDALONEHOWCOULDYOUIVENEVERDONETHATBEFOREWTF.

Watched a lot of Bridget Jones Diary, eh? If you haven't figured out that shipping drugs to Korea is easier than carrying them on your person, then you should probably stop doing them. Razz

acutally - the film is a bit dated in the fact that's happened to so many people so many times for so many years - and they just got around to putting it in a film.

I don't do drugs - but certainly have been around them - since they are part of our society and all - too many people don't appreciate their freedom until it's taken away from them.

being female, I've heard more than my share of tales from other women who've been stranded while traveling with guys who flaked out on them - interesting tho, have never heard of it happening the other way around Shocked go figure

no need to get your panties in a bunch hon - just a fair warning is all

Happy Trails Very Happy

I understand your concern...

but even a so called friend can turn around and stab you in the back.
or the friendly neighbour who everyone thought was kind and quiet!
ended up being the one who killed the 2 children from around the block
"oh my god we would have never thought"
or a man who was married to a woman for 5 years actually was married to another woman at the same time, how well do you actually know anybody??

going to travel with someone from here im sure you would meet them first have a drink and see if thast person checks out..

have you ever gone home with someone from a bar and slept with that person after only knowing that person for a couple hours?
many people do every night..
every met a stranger at a bar and then ended up drinking with them till 4am in the morning and then crashing on their sofa???

the OP is just putting a hand out, its like saying hello to someone at the bar! or something..
