A burrito isn't a burrito without refried beans. Where can I get this TexMex delicacy here in Korea?

Here you go ...

Quote:
This vegetarian version of refried beans is tastier and healthier than traditional ones, which are cooked in lard.

Yield About 2 cups
Time 1 hours (+ bean soaking and cooking)
Tools Wok, Dutch oven, or deep skillet
Wooden spoon
Potato masher or fork

Ingredients 2 c pinto or black beans, soaked/cooked or canned
3 T sesame or olive oil
1 c onion, diced
3 cloves garlic, minced
1-2 t cumin
1-2 t salt
1-2 t black pepper, ground

Directions Heat the oil over medium heat, add the onion, and saut until soft, about 10 minutes. Add garlic and continue sauting for another minute or two.

Stir in the beans, spices, and c of reserved soaking liquid. Mash the beans into the liquid. If they seem too dry, add more liquid. Taste and adjust the spices.

Notes Sesame oil adds a wonderful flavor to refried beans.
Reheat refried beans in a T or two of oil, preferably sesame.

Refried black beans are divine topped with cheddar cheese, sour cream, and red onion.

Hannam Supermarket has a bag of dehydrated refried beans. All you have to do is add a little water and nuke it. Expands to 3x the amount! Good deal and HERE, not mailed or bought for crazy price. --Tembo

Keep on walking. The red door closed down. There might be a new place that opened up kitty corner to 3 Alley pub ~ not certain, though.

On the subject where can you get good black beans for a sane price?
I see things in Korean supermarkets that look almost like the black beans I'm used to but are over 5,000 for a half kilo bag, which is ridiculous...

Are you close to Suwon? Or are you on the northern side of Seoul?
