Good question atramentous; might be that the hostility comes from people who are just hostile in general, and if it wasn't aimed at white women it'd be aimed elsewhere; possibly because the hostile ones don't get laid enough, or maybe are still nursing wounds sustained by past rejections from hot white girls; perhaps they are mad at white girls for not looking as good as the internet ones do...I dunno.

It may be that only the hostile comments are noticeable, whereas people who have positive things to say often don't bother. I mean, white girls are great and all, but I don't really feel any strong urge to shout it from the rooftops, y'know? But, somebody disdainful of them or actually angry at them probably has the opposite urge, in spades.

i predict a response to these comments: somebody's going to say, "we mock the white girls here because they are so often fat and gross."

all the places I've been to, it heavily skews that way.

generalizing, the women tend to prefer the more open minded Western male (vis a vis gender roled, etc) and I guess they're just more comfortable with a Western parnter (I'm guessing here, I'm not a woman).

Also, in developing countries there is a much bigger polarization of societies in terms of wealth/jobs, etc. The males on the top of the ladder in those countries have their pick of the litter and a liberated Western plain Jane will probably have a hard time competing.

the expat males, also are top of the ladder, because in most cases in local terms they have great jobs, make good money. Those guys will invariably flock to the multutiude of available local, more exotic, younger talent that becomes easily available.

simple choices really, given one provides the supply/demand factors beforehand.

I've heard lots of stories of "bitter" Western single female expats, especially professional women that are a little older.

I love all hot women.

I rarely see hot white chicks here, but I'm sure they have no problems getting guys.

We are living in a country marked by the supremacy of the precious male.

Oh, there's nothing more therapeutic than walking in the streets of Seoul having scores of men blow smoke in your face, leer at anything that resembles a woman, shove and push and hark and spit and barf and curse and yell, aahh, they are a charming bunch.

They usually don't have any problems getting guys, in fact they tend to have their pick of a slew of guys, and that's just within the expat community. If they date local Korean men, they have even more choices. And, they don't even have to be all that hot, they just have to have a social circle of friends.

Ladies!

Do your part in this humanitarian sexual crisis...and start dating more Korean men! There are lots to choose from, but you have to be proactive and approach them first!

They will NOT approach you first because they are usually intimidated by the English factor.

I lot of the Korean guys I've talked to about this are very curious about dating a foreign woman, but the opportunity never presented itself. So come on expat ladies, what are you waiting for? Get to work!

The population as a whole is balanced because there is a much higher life expectancy for women than men.
Quote:
male: 75.34 years
female: 82.17 years (2008 est.)

However it's not balanced for the population that is eligible for dating at the present time. It's reasonably balanced with the babies that are being born now with a ratio of 1.08 male babies to 1 female baby (as opposed to western countries which usually have a ratio of 1.05). However up until 2003 there was a higher imbalance that peaked in 1990 at 1.16 males to females.
That means around the age the age of eligible dating there still a large imbalance. It's going to take another 20-30 years for the imbalance to be corrected. There's a reason so many Koreans are being forced to go abroad for their wives.

Adjeosshi, make the world a better place, don't punch any female, EVER, in the face.

You are welcome.

I would have to say that is one of the most enduring urban myths floating around Korea. I make just as much or even more money then a lot of my male coworkers. I am a hot commodity on the employment scene because of my gender and expereince.

I have also had no problems meeting expat men. I have curves and don't treat men like walking ATMs. I find being totally diffirent from the locals has helped me a lot in terms of dating. (Not to say all Asian women do that but in many Asian cultures it's not unacceptable to marry for economic reasons.) I have plenty of dating choices and have done better on the dating scene then a lot of white guys.

I agree. There are many great things about Korea, but it's a pity Korean women were playing truant the day butts got dished out. Still, with enough soju ...

I excluded Korea... (because it's Mars).
I am also generalizing. If you're attractive because of looks, personality and or curves, and or all of the above, you'll be the exception to the rule.

(and would be for me, because for e.g. generally speaking Korean girls and most Asian women do very little for me, so the usual typical selfish decision process gets altered but in say Latin America for e.g. , no reason to even glance at a North American girl)

I've talked to expats in Hong Kong, mainland China, Bangkok and several places in Latin America..

and (as crusher of heads would say)

it's true! it's true!

There's a grotesquely gross male surplus in Korea.
Korean men are also the most selfish in bed according to a recent article by an online paper, Korea has the world's 2nd largest porn market....

All these excess dogs and most of the ones who actually do get some honey are all in a horrid state of sexual frenzy!!
