Bush awarded International Medal of PEACE
David Edwards
Published: Tuesday December 2, 2008
Pastor Rick Warren awarded President George W. Bush the International Medal of P.E.A.C.E. for his AIDS relief program. The PEACE acronym stands for promotion of reconciliation, equipping servant leaders, assisting the poor, caring for the sick and educating the next generation.
The Bush program to fight the world AIDS pandemic is known as The President's Emergency Plan For AIDS Relief (PEPFAR). PEPFAR has spent $18 million to fight AIDS across the world. Another $48 million has been authorized by Congress.
Ezra Klein of The American Prospect found it somewhat odd to award a "PEACE" medal to a president who presided over two wars.
"There's no argument that Bush has done some genuine good in pushing America's HIV/AIDS policy forward, but giving Bush the International Medal of PEACE is like giving the Dalai Lama the International Medal of WAR. You can find a rationale, but it demonstrates a genuinely insufficient sensitivity to irony," wrote Klein.

Yep, give him a pat on the back, an award for a job well done, and a golden parachute to see his retirement fruitful. He deserves less, much less..... |

just a PR ploy to try and downplay the call for Bush and gang to be prosecuted for war crimes.
won't help - too many victims and too much evidence - he's going down, anyone want to take a bet on it? I give it less than a year - as it is there are other countries that have filed papers and pledged to serve him if he ever leaves the U.S. |

You're on. I'll take that bet. Bush will never be tried and convicted-- in a recognized court of law, public opinion doesn't count, sorry.
BTW what other COUNTRIES (by this I mean their heads of state/governments) have filed papers and pledged to serve him if he leaves the U.S ? |

sigh, that's been true too many times - but again, there's been a lot of stepping up to the plate outside the U.S. -
just pay attention - it will happen. |

Vincent Bugliosi has vowed to do it.
It is not an idle threat either. He got Charles Manson convicted for murder, and Manson himself never killed anybody. |

yeah - it's amazing how many drink the koolaid while the rest of us count the bodies as they pile up - then when it's over and the survivors have to take a number for retribution - the koolaid drinkers stand there, blinking and gasp! you mean something's the matter??
do your research people - if you don't really know the consequences of the actions of the Bush regime - you are either woefully illiterate or in a coma - neither of which anything I or anyone else can do to help you - and that includes posting links and or quotes and or references - do your own homework. this is a discussion forum, I'm not here to offer you my research services for free.
got that? |

Yeah, it's amazing how many drink the kool-aid that Bush is evil incarnate at worst or forever bungling at best.
Bono, of U2 fame and a staunch advocate for AIDS relief in Africa has frequently lauded Bush for doing more to help people of this subcontinent than any other world leader past or present.
Try to set aside your personal grudges long enough to admit this much, lefties. |

I remember a few years ago what the plan for AIDS was. I remember he started giving out all of this money with the agreement that a very large portion of it was going to go towards Evanglical abstainence education. I also remember reading that part of this great Evangelical help was telling the people that condom's don't prevent AIDS only not having sex until you're married does. So it seems to me that all of this wonderful help was total BS since he basically paid a whole bunch of money to spread disinformation anyway.
Total shit. |
