Dear friends,

This is a special appeal to all our supporters in Korea:
the Greenpeace ship Esperanza is coming to Busan,
and we urgently need your help to get her message out now.

We need your help to save Pacific tuna fisheries.

The Pacific ocean is rich in marine life and home to over 20 Island Nations.
It's also the only place on the planet where tuna have not been practically wiped out
by overfishing and pirate fishing.
Today, the Pacific supplies over 60% of the world�s tuna.
But overfishing in other areas of the world means more and more boats are moving in,
and chasing fewer and fewer fish.
If we want tuna tomorrow,
we need to take action to protect these fisheries today.

Huge industrial tuna boats -- capable of catching as many tuna in one trip
as some of the Pacific countries are able to take in a year --
are plundering this vulnerable region at a rate that means trouble for the tuna
as well as the people whose livelihoods and futures depend on them.

These boats originate from countries like Korea, Japan and Taiwan
and feed the ever-increasing appetites for tuna in the luxury Asian, European and US markets.

Ask Korea to lead the fight to save the tuna!

An historic meeting that will decide the future of the Pacific tuna fisheries
will take place in Busan, Korea 8-12 of December.
Greenpeace has joined forces with Korean environmental group KFEM
to ensure that Korea, as the host nation and key player in the fishery,
takes the lead in making sure that this meeting takes action.

We need marine reserves which will fully protect the most vulnerable breeding grounds of the tuna from exploitation.

We need sustainable management measures outside those areas
that will secure a future for this fishery
and for the future of the millions of Pacific island people
that depend on this resource for their livelihood.

We urge you to send a message to the Korean Minister of Fisheries
showing your concern as a responsible Korean citizen
and in support of the Pacific nations' efforts to ensure their future,
and the future of tuna as the world's favourite fish.

The Greenpeace ship Esperanza will be in Busan December 7th-13th.
We invite you on onboard to see the ship
and to talk more about our campaign work
on Sunday the 7th at 2-4 pm at the Korea Maritime University, Busan.

If we want fish for the future, we need marine reserves today.

Tuna is an excellent, economic, and fat-free source of protien. Why would I want them to stop providing it??? It also tastes good with mayo between 2 slices of bread......

Greenpeace comes across as an extremely patronising and condescending corporation. They're too lucrative to be called an organisation. Also, going after the Koreans for their fishing practices seems a bit of a wasted game, what with them being fans of the drift net fishing technique.

That being said, it's sad to see overfishing because we all know where it leads. but being preached at by Greenpeace isn't really effective. I know how I react to it.

But I do have a care for the world I live in.

Nonetheless, cut with the generalizations which are a sorry substitute for thinking.

Take a bath! Ha! As if to care for the condition of the planet had something to do with personal hygene! Yet, we pay no mind to others shitting where we'd eat!

Wash your eyes, and you'll find I bathe just fine.

Just because we criticise doesn't mean we don't care about environmental issues, and don't do our own individual parts to avoid participating in blind consumption with no respect for their ramifications.
