The Compaq seems to be the nicest but I am Biased towards Asus cause they have international warranties.
Toshiba is notorious for shit support.
Bout the only advantage the Compaq has over the Asus is a slightly less shitier video card. Downside of the Compaq is it has a stupid shiny finish, Finger print magnet.
Also with only 1 gig of ram the Compaq has vista and it will feel slugish.
I'd still go with the Asus. (its also cheaper) |

I agree. Don't buy the "celery" processor and go with the the cheapest dual core pentium processor you can get. |

| The Asus for mee too wins the race, although i personally would prefer a Dual Core 2. Compaq has not been very appealing to me anyways, thanks everyone...any additional comments will be welcome. |

I will second NOT buying Toshiba. Shitty service and shitty or at least inconsistent quality.
I recently trashed my laptop (long story). I have 1 mil won to 1.2 to spend on a laptop in Korea . Will buy here because I need it shortly (can't stand using my EeePC for anything but browsing). This compaq looks okay but I 'd really like a better processing speed.
Any recommendations from what's on the market out there? I'm looking for general use, no gaming. But a nice amount of HD memory.
Thanks,
DD

blade,
Thanks,
Looks like it would do the job. Any recommendation in Yongsan? Did you go to the market at the back? I also assume this comes in non-wide screen. I've had a few wide screens and really don't do enough of that kind of viewing to really need it or the extra ....
Cheers,
DD

The store I bought my laptop was on the third floor of building that's connected to Youngsan by the walkway which crosses over the railway lines. I don't know the name of the store I bought it but they're all about same for price and service anyway.
hackers.co.kr are in the basement of that building so you can compare prices there if you need to. I don't know if that particular model comes with a non wide screen option but I'm sure you should be able to find something similar all the same.
You should also check out Gmarket's website for good deals on laptops which you can have delivered for free.

I bought an HP dv2000 14 inch. Nice looking, light enough machine. Dual Core processor . 1gb RAM 120 gb hard drive. He listed 860,000 I got him down to 760 cash.
Works great, got it home , opened it up and started using the wireless. No fuss nor muss. Great screen, really brillant. Built in cam / mic really works well also....I'd recommend so far, though the battery life is low end (2.5 hours average).

| Ha... you've got pretty much the same computer as I do, although likely a much faster processor. Mine's 2 1/2 years old, and runs on a dual core 1.83 chip. |
