My school never asks me to attend these and that's just how I like it.
I think regular class will finish on Dec 18th at my school, so I won't be asked to go anyway, I hope. |

This would present those of us that have difficulty contacting GEPIK a perfect opportunity to ask our important work-related questions. Make a list, check it twice, and see who's been naughty and nice... It's that time of year.
Anyway, this is the perfect opportunity to have your questions answered. |

Or to corner one of the higher ups and embarrass him into addressing your needs. |

Good idea. If you get a chance to ask questions, in person, you should do what you can to get your questions answered.
This is especially true of newbies. Good suggestion, Xuanzang. |

You're assuming that just because this is being sponsored by GEPIK that the people working there will actually be teachers for GEPIK and not instructors from "Imagination Land", where we only have 20 students, supportive co-teachers... and where all contracts and schools are the same. |

20? Many GEPIK presenters, have classes of 8-10 students they teach 5 days per week who are in advanced schools. These students are also taught in hagwon from age 4. The GEPIK presenters have the time to divide their classes by skill level and place them in assigned seating. They wear suits to work and that means the Koreans all respect them, including GEPIK officials.
No GEPIK presenters ever have to teach low level classes of 40+ students once a week, like most GENUINE GEPIK teachers.
No wonder the GEPIK presenters are considered such excellent "teachers"- they have built-in advantages in their classes. |

GEPIK is great at avoiding questions: look at all the complaints on Dave's that support my conclusion. If they refuse to help us, then give them one chance to help at this workshop. If not, then it would be obvious that GEPIK doesn't give a d*m* about foreign teachers in Korea. Someone should write an article in the Korea Times or Korea Herald about that.
I only wished that we received what we were promised verbally by GEPIK. During my first GEPIK job, they told me to contact them if I had problems and that they would help me if I needed them. I quickly learned to rely upon other methods. Why does GEPIK lie to many foreign teachers? It happens frequently enough that it appears to be a policy. |

Like overtime pay and winter camps? That's a good idea because many will be able to ask questions in person. |

I guess people were afraid to ask or even demand better conditions. I guess that is why they were invited to the event. If you want better conditions, then you will have to do something about it. I am not suggesting joining a union or anything, but I am suggesting that people be smart and not settle for less. |
