Is it still extremely easy for someone with degrees, a TEFL four-week certificate, and more, but no EFL teaching experience, to get hired somewhere? In other words, can I COUNT on finding an ESL job of some kind (given that I have no major personal problems) within a few months of arrival?

I'm a 51-year-old European-looking man, though I do look and act a bit younger.

Do you want a PS job? I'd say you could get a PS job very very easily....

Hagwon jobs are here too, but they tend to want kids and not adults teaching the kids. The exceptions would be in small hagwons that have difficulty attracting a FT because they are in unpopular parts of a city or in the country.....

But, if you are not picky, you can definately find a haggy job.

100% correct. Since the economy went south people are worried about jobs, English book sales have increased. Since the govt. implementation of English classes private spending on English lessons has increased.

Fascinating - even though the US economy stinks, demand to know English is higher than ever, huh? Knowing English should still be a good job qualification, then... Thanks for your insight!

Korea doesn't seem to be slowing down like China and America, but it will have to since Korean companies are seeing significant drops in exports. If the export economy falls flat on its' face, the NE Asia region is in big trouble so it's hard to say how this will effect the English teaching industry. Americans are not buying as many Asian exports, because they don't have the money and credit has ran out and if the same thing happens in Korea, then they too will have to cut back on non essentials like vacation trips, English education, video gaming systems, and luxuries.
