You can add Vitter to that list, although he probably won't face prosecution because of the statue of limitations.

Did this remind anyone else of that time in Babu Bhatt's cafe?

BREAKING NEWS: President-elect Obama calls for Illinois governor to resign, spokesperson

Not exactly the boldest demand on Obama's part, since the governor is already under arrest.

He's out on bail he hasn't been convicted yet and still holds the key to the senate seat.

There was a Mayor in Boston who served as Mayor from 1947 to 1949 while incarcerated in a federal penitentiary.

Could Bloto remain Governor while incarcerated?

Unless he resigns, or measures are taken to remove him from office, then yes, I think he could. I'm not sure though. I do know he can still appoint the senate replacement in the middle of all this as well, unless the legislature takes that power away from him.

Big Rod can appoint one, but no one will accept. And Harry Reid has said any Blago appointee will not be seated by the Senate. So it's academic at this point. Lt. Gov. Pat Quinn, who hates Blago's guts (like just about everybody in Illinois has for a long time), has already called for Rod's impeachment. It's just a matter of time.

Blago pissed off his mentor and father in law, Dick Mell, a long time ago. He has no political capital in Chicago anymore, and he never had any south of I-80 to begin with. To quote the Hawk "He gone!".
