He was arrested by al Qaeda in 2007. Then he was arrested by the United States military in January. Now he has been arrested by the Iraq police. The only person I can think of who gets arrested by so many different departments in the same country is Pacman Jones here in the USA. The two should form a rap duo.

If Bush did to Canada what he did to Iraq... If Hugo did to America what Bush did to Iraq.. This is more than expressing disagreement. Looked like Korean-style 'han' to me. And the bastard deserves it.

Everyone involved, jesus. I mean as a journalist your job is to report the news, not make the goddamned news.

I'll tell you that this move only will gain sympathy for Bush. I mean he handled the incident with humility and goddamned aplomb.

The fact that a bunch of Iraqi yahoos used the word 'hero' to describe some poor shell-shocked soul who is obviously a little too affected tells me all too much.

Kurdistan is liberated. Get the hell out of there. Throwing shoes at statesman. This is the highwater mark of Iraqi freedom, and it shoes poorly on America and Iraq.

Sometimes a slip shoes what is going on in your sole. Very Happy

Anyone want to bet that all Bush bios will print a pic of the Saddam statue being pummeled with shoes right next to a pic of Bush dodging one of those two shoes---and both of them right below that 'Mission Accomplished' shot...a visual summary of the whole Iraq episode.

Yeah. I noticed it but left it anyways.

No better way to get people to respond to your post than to make a grammatical error. Best if that grammatical error keeps everyone on topic.

God. I just love how this man 'doesn't know how to act like an adult' or looks like an 'unsavory' sort. It's so easy to sit back and critize and judge this man from 6,000 miles away when your only worry/stress of the day is will you get a grande or a venti down at the local starbucks.

I just love how people without a care in the world expect people whose country has been sent into anarchy to just sit right back and enjoy the ride because '50 years later things will be just fine.'

Sure your country is shit right now and the invasion was totally illegal, but hey we did it for you. By the way, how many Iraqis do you think actually believe that? Just because America says it's so doesn't automatically oblige Iraqis to believe them.

For the record I don't by the whole imperialism crap either but come on, it's IRAQ that has been invaded and occupied. I would argue that an Iraqi's opinion on what is happening over that is far more valid than yours or mine.

Oh my what a poor sport, throwing his shoe at our all mighty statesman. Poor form old chap. Come over for some tea and crumpets ( or I guess maybe a Bud light and a donut ) and we will calmly and quietly discuss what is happening in your country and why you really, really don't need to act so childishly over this trivial matter or invasion, torture, arbitrary detainment, beheadings, car bombs, iranian sponsored militias, drill bits into skulls and what have you.

Show some class, sit down and happily accept OUR version of what is happening and why. It is your obligation as a lowly Iraqi to happily consume everything we feed you because hey, it's just the way the world works.

Muntader al-Zaidi appears to have a long-standing dislike of the United States presence in Iraq. He used to finish his reports by saying he was in the occupied Baghdad. His brother said that he hates the occupation so strongly that he canceled his wedding, saying: I will marry when the occupation is over.

The correspondent for Al Baghdadiya, an independent Iraqi television station, had previously been detained in November 2007 by a particular party his brother didnt reveal whether American or Iraqi - after videotaping the scene of an improvised explosive device that targeted an American Humvee. He was held again two months later for several hours by the American army without charges, his brother said. Other reports said he had been kidnapped by Shiite militants. Co-workers said that all Mr. al-Zaidi would reveal afterwards was that he had been strongly threatened, but he would not say by whom.

...

Muntader al-Zaidi was the head of the student union under Saddam Hussein... Maythem al-Zaidi said that his brother is politically independent, but several people who know him mentioned that he was a Baathist who turned into a Sadrist after the war.

If he is a Bathist and a Sadrist then he is with those who would persecute and kill minority groups. That tells about him and what he is about.

and it tells about those who are cheering him on.

If he is a Baathist it could also mean he likes having a job.

The latest:

Quote:
Shoe-throwing Iraqi journalist could face prison sentence

Brother claims al-Zaidi was beaten in custody
Hundreds protest for second day in support of journalist

The Iraqi journalist who threw his shoes at George Bush appeared before a judge yesterday on charges of "aggression against a president".

The court decided to keep Muntazer al-Zaidi in custody, and after an investigation is carried out the judge may send him for trial under a clause in the Iraqi penal code that punishes anyone who attempts to murder Iraqi or foreign presidents.

Such a crime could result in imprisonment of seven to 15 years.

His brother claimed yesterday that the television reporter had been beaten in custody.

Zaidi suffered a broken hand, broken ribs, internal bleeding and an eye injury, his older brother, Dargham, told the BBC.

Iraqi security took Zaidi into custody after the incident and interrogated him about whether he had been paid to throw his shoes at Bush on Sunday, according to officials.

etc etc

Under a Baathist/Sadarist/Shariat regime he'd be dead already.

A Sadrist? A Shia partisan? Formerly a Baathist, part of a Sunni political apparatus? This guy sounds like he likes to a) have a job and b) be on the winning team.
