i've read up on them and have a fairly good idea about what to expect.

but, i have a question. Are JJBs places where couples go to "get to know" each other better?

Depends what you mean by "get to know" each other. Jjimjilbangs are places to have a hot bath, go in saunas, sleep on the floor or have instant noodle in matching clothes. Love motel is for the other part.

Somebody mentioned a place in Hongdae that has private rooms for couples but he couldn't remember the location. Anyone know where it is?

In general, no. Very much a family atmosphere.

Yes... they do "get to know eachother"... if you mean that they get to see their girlfriend/boyfriend without makeup and hair gell. And check out what they look like in orange.

Lots of sweating done... The only "sleeping" that is done there is on an open floor, with children running around/on/over you. Some of them have semi-private "caves", but it's for one person, and they're open on the end.

It's for relaxing, spending time together. It seems like a big bonding thing for families. Scrub your grandmothers back, have dad take a bath with the kids, lay down on a warm floor together and/or eat noodles.

Many couples do snuggle in those caves, but theres not much more than that. Many of the darker sleeping rooms are under the view of cctv to prevent hanky panky or molestation.

It's a safe place to "spend the night" with your honey with hundreds of chaperones.

It's also a good place to spend the night if your visitiing a city and need a place to crash. The floor may not be comfortable but waking up and hopping in the sauna makes it bearable. And for under 10K is a nice low priced option.

Well, some of the Korean males might get to know you better and blame it on simply being curious...

Oh hey man, you're back! Didn't think I'd see you around these parts after you tucked tail last time. How's life back in the US? Or Mexico? Or back here in Korea? Or wherever you think you're welcome these days?
