Work ended for this year today, I am now on vacation until Jan 2nd 2009.

I have 13 consecutive days off work. It's better than nothing.

What are you going to do during your break from work?

I am going to visit xe.com and refresh the screen regularly. I will exchange won into pounds if the exchange rate stays as strong as it is now.

I'll surf the net, and just do as little as possible.

I love spare time when I can get it. Laughing

I'm hitting Guam baby! Cool

24-32 C every day (not too hot and humid, and air is clean), people speak English (a REAL holiday from ESL world), it's where the new year begins in the US of A, there are some nice beaches like on the north coast and nearby in the Northern Mariana Islands, windsurfing and snorkeling

10 days in all

(will avoid the Japanese and Korean touristy areas for all but the last few days when shopping becomes a priority)

From today: Relax, Christmas dinner with friends, New Years, no plans yet.

NYD, spa with a friend, the weekend, visit a friend in Seoul (first time there in over a year!), move to my new apt. for my new job, check out the city, go to the States for about 9 days (I love my family, but short visits seem to work better for us), hang out, do some prep for my new job and RELAX!!!!

Ah! The joys of a PS job through a uni!!

You must go to the 'Treasure Island' area of Guam at least once. There's a scotch whisky store where the least expensive 750ml bottle is US $320. If you don't want to drink the cheap stuff, you'd better hope your credit card doesn't have a $50,000 limit! Wink

Saipan is amazing. If you're feeling 'physical' I recommend going to Forbidden Island on the east coast.

Teaching a two week grad session at a grand a week. Meets three days a week. Can't complain, although I'm not a fan of teaching over the breaks. My wife has to go to the US on business anyway, so we figured why not. Might keep me out of trouble.

Heading to Bali for a couple of weeks with the better half after the lunar new years.

Guess it will be just like last year for me....lonely and lonely and lonely sitting in Seoul, thanks to an arc expiring at the end of December and my school taking their sweet time to get it extended for me two years in a row. People, whatever you do, NEVER start a job in December. I learned that lesson the extra hard way. Then I re-signed for another year, and an extra 2 months until the end of Feb as a favor to my school, which was another stupid move on my part, because they sure as heck don't care about me or their other teachers. So, I will spending Christmas here trying to just relax and trying not to get too sad that this is my 3rd year in a row of not seeing my family and my Korean fiance is in the states on a 90 day visa right now. I can't see him until Lunar New Year.

But, hey, this is my last go with an E2 visa and crappy hagwon abuse, and I will never be apart for months from my fiance pretty soon. I am very happy to make a fresh start in 2009. I deserve it. My boss last year actually laughed in my face when he took us out for Christmas dinner at an el cheapo Korean restaurant across the street from work. He asked if money was the reason I wasn't taking a trip for Christmas vacation. I told him no. I should have told the whole truth and said no, because you idiots waited until mid-December to get my sojourn extended. I can't stand rich, elitist hagwon bosses who make fun of their employees always thinking money is why they aren't doing something. hey, I may not be rich like him, but I am not poor as a snake either. I resent that. And also, the main boss last year laughed in my face and said "hahaha, you've only gone to japan for visa runs????" hahahaha...I didn't find that one bit funny at all. And for his info, no, I haven't gone to Japan for only visa runs. What a *beep*! He would go around the office telling us all he had an MBA...married but available, always touching us on the shoulders when he talked to us, and he even tried to get one of our teachers to set him up on dates with some of her Korean uni students from her previous job. He also had an affair with the secretary of our other branch and gave her and his wife the same Christmas gift. What a dirtbag! Oh, and in October, we were told we have to pay back a bunch of tax, because payroll didn't deduct enough taxes from us all year long. And my former boss is driving a brand new Audi. go figure!
