I've been tossing my change into a modifed Pringles can for the past three and a half months and I've finally decided to spend it. So what are some good ideas to waste money or does anyone know I can take them to a bank and get bills?

Just go into a branch with the coins and set them down, they'll pour them into a machine and give you billz...

Some banks want you to count it out before u give it them (Woori bank cough cough) but the post office bank was nice enough to put it into their machine and give me bills. Just sort is into 100s, 50s, etc before hand.

most banks have a change counting machine, though some will insist on getting you to divide it up before they put it through (something that i dont think needs to be done). I have a peanut tin with my change in that i take in every month or so, last time i picked up nearly 60000.

alternatively you could use it to try and hit cats from the top of your tower block.

In Korea, all this coinage quickly builds up on you more than in a western country. Mainly, because of odd prices and you don't like to carry coins so you throw it in a can at home and then don't have them to use while shopping. And then each day you make a dump and it just builds up. In 6 months, I've accumulated a 20 pound box of it.

Separate it into each type of denomination and take it to the bank. Some banks have counting machines, but each denomination has to be separated.

500s are easy enough to spend when shopping. The rest you could take to the bank, or considering the season, you could drop it in donation cans around town. There's lots of charity boxes at stores and restaurants.

I also have a giant box of the stuff.

I thought this was just my problem cause I did the same at home, but I have noticed it acculates a lot faster.

I just decided right now to go on a huge splurge and head to an arcade and bomb the whole thing. Go with my girlfriend and force her to watch me about 50,000 of won on arcade games (she hates video games).

Its gonna be great. Her disdain for me is going to be elevated to a whole nother level.

when i went to the bank i didn't have to sort the denominations, but i did have a few random paper clips and whatnot that ended up jamming the machine. it took the better part of an hour to get my 20 bucks. you'd think a machine would have some kind of screen to prevent this kind of thing from happening, but i guess not.

Yepper. It's been a year since I did it. I went to a KEB and they didn't have a machine and then went to this blue bank with a gold and blue shield symbol I don't bank at and they helped me, but I had to spend about an hour separating it at the bank. It turned out to be 150,000 won. Boy did I work for that money.

After two years of not spending change at all I had nearly 400kwon in a very stretched out wool sock. (size 15 feet) I took it to kookmin, no sorting, and they chucked it in the machine and gave me bills about an hour later. I spent it on vacation in Thailand.

I was thinking of that for a minute.

But then I thought well

1) I give it to the Salvaton army I know that money goes to administration

2) I give it to people dressed in red santa suits I don't know where it goes, and I'm worried it goes to an "unworthy" cause or something I don't really care about.

3) Giving it to beggars, well I have once given something to a beggar, I think that'll encourage more begging and is only a short term fix for his long term problem.

So all in all,

It's christmas, Imma spend it on myself Razz
