|
|
I've heard rumors of people being tested for drugs upon return from a vacation. I'm going to Canada for a week during break, and may partake in a popular past time.
I'm not looking for more rumors. I want to hear from people who have actually been tested upon return from a vacation, or are close to someone who has.

I'm taking a permanent holiday in Canada soon. |

Are you public school? Just a caveat, I can't help you in any way. But I'm renewing at my PS and they are trying to drug test me. In my opinion it's none of the school's or POE's business. Unless it's in your contract of course. Which for public school it isn't.
Basically you can stall them for long enough to get it out of your system anyway. Are they going to forceably drag you to a clinic and drug test you?
My POE are demanding a drug test in order to re-sign. On my own dime and time of course. I'm trying to peaceably bring them round to my way of thinking. But I'm only about 3 more calls and emails away from severely burning some bridges in spectacular fashion. |

There's no way around this for re-signing.
The issue at stake here is random throughout the contract testing. This shouldn't be possible unless the employer is paying. ppcg4 wants confirmation that it never happens. I'm sure it won't if they have to pay. I would never take the chance, as a positive test is the equivalent of possession. |

I agree with all of this except for the stalling party. You don't stall, you simply say no. Unless it is part of your contract, it is illegal to force you to take a drug test just as it would be to force you to wash cars or build a pond for the school.
The drug test is for immigration. Follow immigration's law. You will need to do one drug test each year when you get a new E-2 visa or when you renew/extend your current E-2 visa. |

Haha, this is exactly what I said to my co-teacher today. Who thankfully is being great about the situation.
I'm just really sad about walking away from a big re-signing bonus. |

I should have been more specific.
I meant a drug test at the airport. |

Not happening anywhere, it would be all over this forum if it were. There are some EPIK or GEPIK schools saying that foreign teachers must now get one after a mid-contract vacation, but it's BS and illegal.
RustyShackleford, immigration makes you get one in order to renew your contract. How would that effect your re-signing bonus? |

!!!!! drug test at the airport?
never heard of that. you should be fine if you've already had your yearly medical and drug test. if you are re-signing, then you're gonna get re-tested. but NOT at the airport. unless the dogs sniff you out and they find your hidden stash. |

I'd never ever dream of bringing drugs into another country. Ever. I've seen way too many episodes of Banged Up Abroad.
It's just not worth it. |

I'm pro-drugs, so don't misinterpret my post. I'm not sure if it would actually be illegal for a PS to test you mid-contract. I hope it is, but who knows? I don't. I'd like to see a labor law that forbids it. I wonder if there is a clause in labor law about intrusive behavior. What I do know is that if you test positive it is the same as bringing drugs into the country. |

POE is demanding one before I can re-sign with them.
I guess I could just move to another province within EPIK. |

this can not be true!
what they gonna do, unrine test every passenger coming off the airplanes at customs? whats the point of this.. its clear that you smoked outside of the country so its not against the law,
are you bringing drugs into the country by having pot in your system?
what you piss in a cup a tell your boys to drink it to get high so now you will be charge with trafficing and intent to sell?
you might get stopped at customs and searched! but this normal...
unrine test.. I dont see the point of it so tell the guy who told you this he is full of shit...
this will mean every flight coming from holland will be subject to urine testing once you arrive at Incheon...
I heard once that Koreans are not allowed to smoke pot abroad and can be arrested once entering Incheon.. but Im like NOWAY!! |

STOP the "getting drug tested at the border" crap. How does "my school wants to drug test me" turn into "getting a piss test at the border purple monkey dishwasher"? |
