I live in Seoul and want to get Wireless Internet access mainly at Home (I have cable internet supplied free as part of my rent but it is not totally reliable and I use the Internet for all of my communication and for my sanity....)
But I don't know the easiest way that I can organise it for myself. I don't speak or read much Korean ... and want to do it as quickly as possible ... (I don't have it working at home right now and really want to have Internet tomorrow ....)
Can anyone give me any of the good options for either arranging for a wireless connection today (online or where I can go tonight face to face) OR tell me where I can find out about Wireless hotspots here in Seoul either free or with payment where I can use my laptop (I have a wireless modem in my computer)
I would appreciate any ideas anyone can give me

You can sign up for KT Wibro for either 10,000 a month, or about 19,000 per month (go for the more expensive, as the lower package provides you with just 1 gb of download bandwidth for a month -- almost nothing).
The larger package still isn't a huge amount of bandwidth, maybe 30gb?, so it's not good for downloading a lot. This is something you could use on the subway or out in areas where free wifi was not available, or perhaps at home (depends on your area) when your regular internet doesn't work.
They give you a small USB dongle to plug in to use this. |

I think that is exactly what I need .... Do you know where you can go to get set up for this? |

A slight hijack...
I'm going to be moving to Hanam, just outside of Seoul. When I'm not at home I use my Ipod Touch as a PDA. Is there a wireless server that provides access to most of Seoul via WIFI? Something like a city wide hotspot? Might just be wishful thinking...
The Ipod doesn't have a USB port. |

There is a wifi in seoul.. and it is pretty darn cheap.. something like 3 bucks a month. |

If you go to Technomart at Gangbyeon station at the green line, there are some places selling netbooks that can do it. There is one specifically on maybe the 5th or 6th floor right in front of the center up escalator. |

| you should just be able to buy a wireless router and connect it to your modem....this is what i would do back home and i assume the same option is available here. the setup might be a bit tricky but modem setups are likely standard so it may not be so difficult. i plan on giving it a try at some point- i would love to have wireless. |
