| It's cheaper than wiring money..not sure the exact charge. When u use it take out as much as you'll think you'll need and it's only a one time thing then. |

| I've never had a problem with American Express T/Cs bought in Korea. Now KEB issued Visa or MasterCard T/C's thats another story. But the Woori Bank at ICN will give you Amex T/Cs |

| With the TC's they give you in Korea you WILL get the runaround when trying to cash them. Bring 100$ notes or use your International ATM card. |
What are the overseas charges like for using a Korean international ATM card? |
I always use my atm card, I dont get charged anything if I remember correctly...
and the exchange rate is what the rate is here..
so much easier to use the atm card, dont have to worry about carrying a lot of cash. just take out what ever bht a day I need and thats it..
And changing won to dollars and then dollars to bht.. compared to changing won to bht.. you are not gonna save yourself that much anyway..
maybe a few bucks.. not worth the BS..
use your ATM card.. of course make sure the account is in a koreans name. becuase foreigners cant use their accounts abroad. |

I've never had a problem cashing American Express tyrav. chqs. in Thailand. Just show your passport - bingo, changee.
But, I was once refused at Bangkok airport - because I'd forgotten to sign the check (when I bought it). The teller kindly saved my face by saying their machine was 'broken' - and it took me a while to realise why she'd refused. I just signed it and then went to another booth.
But, I've had problems at BKK airport with exchange booth tellers making 'mistakes' with the amount of notes I was cashing (funny how these mistakes are always light on your amount). I guess jet-lagged, white-legged farangs, straight off the plane, can be easy marks - even at banks.
Happy holidays. |
