For no particular reason other than 'just because I can' I've started a social networking site usiing the Ning.com platform. It's called "Suwon ESL Anarchy". The URL is http://suwoneslanarchy.ning.com/.

I chose the Ning platform rather than doing a WP, blogger, or typepad blog because I've been familiar with Ning for a long time and they do have some excellent functionality on there for social sites like I think this should be.

I used the title 'anarchy' because I know how crazy these kinds of sites can sometimes be. I'm hoping that even though people can join and participate to any degree they want that we'll have some members who can add some real value for those of us who live and/or teach in the Suwon area. It's my understanding that there are quiet a few of us.

Since Suwon is a reasonably good sized city I thought that there would be value in some type of site specialized in information for those who want to learn as much about Suwon as possible and have the best possible time while they're here. I know that certainly applies to me.

So......if you're in the Suwon area please feel free to pop over to http://suwoneslanarchy.ning.com, sign up, post a picture (if you don't mind), add some pictures of Suwon if you have any, videos if you want, post some replies to the questions and discussions I've started, or post or start some discussions of your own.

There's a lot of things you can do with Ning. One of them is you can start your own sub-groups. Explore around a little. You'll see.

I'm not planning on being a moderator nazi. If it gets too un-fun or distasteful for me I'll just bail out and leave it for someone else to play with. But if you look at the Ning home site you'll see that it's a pretty good platform to build a social site around and I do think we've got something in common if we live in the Suwon area.

We can take it any direction we want.

You can always reach me here or at 010-5782-3045.

This post needs a bump. I like the spirit of your site. Good idea.
