eslcafe search is terrible so i decided to post.

i am applying for my first E-2 in a few weeks. however, i am currently in Korea.

now, how do I request a CRC while being abroad? can they be requested in writing and picked up by another person(who gets an apostille)? do i need to be fingerprinted? how do i pay for the CRC? is there a way to get a money order in korea???

as a first time applicant for an E-2, do i have to return to the US of A to interview at a consulate? i understand i can't take the boat to japan anymore.

it all sounds just terrible....

You just answered your own question. If this is your first E2 visa than unfortunately you must return to your home country for a 5 minute interview and tell Korea A why you love kimchi and soju.

No way around it I'm afraid. Sorry for the bad news.

Suerte,
Jesse

That would specifically depend on "where you are from".

The requirements and process are different for each country and are are often different for each jurisdiction within any particular country.

Then, after you get it, you will have to return to your home country for a "consular interview" before you can get an E2 issued (assuming it is your first E2).

Sigh. This is simply not true. I got my first E-2 issued in Bangkok in August. You need to first have your degree verified by the KCUE. This process must be initiated by your employer. It should take about two weeks. When that is done and your number is issued, you can skip over to Japan and have your visa issued. There is a way around it! I know because I did it!
