Hi,
I was wondering if anyone has heard of the hagwon chain iSponge or worked there? I am about to come to Korea and was looking for a few testimonies. Thanks for any info you can give!

Sorry Can't help.

It's a crazy name. How do these morons come up with such stupid names? That sounds as bad as "Wonderland", or "TOSS English".

I do know some foreigners here that soak up alcohol like sponges. Maybe they would fit in at isponge.

iSponge is a chain started by Dan Yul Moon, one of the celebrity English teachers. It's part of a larger business that includes the Ebo Young Talking Club and is run by Edubox.

The iSponge chain is having major financial problems right now, and a lot of the individual hagwons are closing. I work for one in Seoul, and I'm saving up some cash for the inevitable. My advice is this: MAKE SURE you talk to more than one teacher working there. Find out how long it's been since they've been paid. Find out how many students are in the iSponge part of the program. One of my coworkers hasn't been paid in months, and it turns out the guy I replaced quit because he wasn't getting paid. All the individual schools are not in the same financial straits as mine, and I don't know anything about the one you're applying to, but just be aware that the parent company is not doing so well.

Hi!
Thanks for the tip. How do you come into contact with teachers at the individual Hagwon?
