I am not interested in any "article". I am more interested in you getting on the boat so that a hardworking Indian, with a good command of English and an interest in teaching, can get a job and educate Korean youth. How about it?

i said no, because i find the indian accent can sometimes be very hard to understand. plus, since quite a few koreans go abroad to travel, study or work at some point, i think they'll have a more difficult time communicating. also the negative kind of treatment and racism people from india or southeast asia will experience in korea will be huge.

once koreans are interested in having english taught for long term understanding we'll talk. They have their own ideas, sadly these ideas are at odds with how children actually learn.

IE Throw the book at them and hope something sticks instead of working through a book and spending the amount of time to understand, internalize and remember.

Sadly, even in public schools they like the toss them as much info as possible and hope it sticks.

Exactly. I think that bringing over a group of people that Koreans seem to have even less respect for than us will only add shit fuel to a shit fire.

Its stupid. The systen us stacked against learning. You have to actively defy what the majority of bosses and parents want you to do to teach.

And when I mean teach, I mean take the time for new ideas and concepts to be internalized and then the time so that you can constantly recall previous things that were taught.

Anytime I've slowed down I get many complaints from parents that I'm not teaching right, or going fast enough and since they pay the bills, I'm inclined to listen to them.

I think alot of people realize the futility of it and if the entire approach to English Education was changed I bet the attitudes of teachers and the Korean populace would as well.

You guys complaining that salaries haven't really gone up in 8 years or so will be making the same complaint 8 years from now if Korea lets anybody in that can speak English. Lower cost is going to trump any superior teaching ability that you have. Nearly all Koreans that take English classes have no need of it and will never use it for anything useful.

Teaching is just about the last thing any of you lot do; so why do you all carry on in this manner? Be grateful that Korea gives you some good pocket money for what is essentially a long vacation, and leave it at that. And if the Indians too want a slice of the Korean cake, share it; after all, you are no more deserving that they are. But, please, none of this bull about how you want to save them from racism, low wages, .... how you have a problem with their accents (as if they would be teaching you!) when all sorts weird accents are to be found in the English-speaking West ....

How can the governments of India and other developing countries guarantee their CRC records and how can Seoul trust them? They don't even have computers in most parts of India never mind the internet out side of the major cities.

Will Indians come to South Korea while the bad feelings exist between the two countries?

I believe Mr. Dokdo is an English teacher sock. It's not a Korean user. It's fun for one user to put out a Korean identity on the forums to make it more interesting, but I know better. Busted!
