..which one player would you select and why?
I do think QB is the single most important position, but there are some guys at other positions that I would have to consider. These are 3 guys that come to mind.
Anqan Boldin - love his toughness and playmaking ability after the catch
Haynesworth - unstoppable force in the interior of the D line
Ed Reed - great leader, on and off the field. all over the place. quiet confidence
But, I am asking for just one guy, and for me that would be Ed Reed.[/b] |

My first pick would be a little known player from tiny Off Topic Forum University. |

Oops, sorry about that. I also forgot about Westbrook. That guy is also pretty amazing, another quiet leader. Any other ideas? |

I watched him in the bowl game and was impressed at his ability to consistently gain extra yardage after the catch. But he ain't no Barry Sanders. The faster, stronger linebackers of the NFL will be a test for him.
There is a player I saw in a bowl game, can't recall which game because I was on holiday in Guam and there were so many bowl games that they began to blur together, but he was an offensive lineman who is touted as perhaps one of the greatest of all time, that he is so good he might actually bring fame to the position. I can't recall the monster's name, but the highlight package showed him stopping two and three guys on the same play. Fast for a giant and strong as hell. Any idea who that was? |

Westbrook will turn 30 this year. His best years are behind him, but he's money in a West Coast offense. Adrian Peterson (Vikes, not Bears) is one guy that you can build a team around. Also, D'Brickashaw Ferguson, because a quality LT is golden in the NFL if he can stay healthy. Also that name is amazing. |

Peterson is a good pick, but he seems to be hit or miss to me. He either runs for a 60 yard touchdown or gets 1 yard. I prefer a back that can pick up 4-6 yards on a consistent basis.
Ferguson is a good call, also love the name. |

Less seriously...

Come on! There are only like 3 answers to this...
Jay Cutler
Philip Rivers
Eli Manning
maybe..jason campbell, matt ryan, aaron rodgers...
If i chose three non QBs, it would have to be linemen or secondary guys.
I'd go with Mario Williams, Justin Tuck and Jake Long(although in all honesty I have no idea what makes a good o-lineman from tv.) |

Well we don't really know about ryan yet imo..campbell could be good when he has more than one year in the same system. Rivers and Cutler are the real big guys though. If I had to start a franchise I would want one of them two, especially Cutler. I';d already put him in the top 5 QBs in the league. |

I think Joe Flacco has just made the list. Polamalu/Harrison are definitely solid. |

Good post. Lots of guys to consider:
Offense
Joe Flacco
Matt Ryan
Adrian Peterson
Andre Johnson
Larry Fitzgerald
Frank Gore
Steven Jackson
Defense
Patrick Willis
Demeco Ryans
Shawne Merriman when healthy
DeMarcus Ware
James Harrison
If I'm the G.M. I'm looking at Flacco, Ryan or A.P. |
