|
|
hi all,
if any forum experts could please advise the correct procedure...
im looking to renew for another year at my hogwan, but i will be taking a 2 week holiday in between contracts.
as far as im aware, i can only get up to 1yr extension for my new E2. so will it matter if there is a 2 week gap in between visa's?
the other issue to consider, is that my visa ends on a monday, but the next flight is on the wednesday...and i will be working on the monday to make sure that i qualify for severance pay.
so how do i get approval from immigration to stay an extra 2days, as well as organize a new 1 year e2 visa, with a break of 2 weeks between contracts?
what should i do?
thanks for any advice

I'm not an expert. However, you can extend your current period of sojourn for up to one year for the purpose of work if your current and future contracts are continuous.
You can extend your current period of sojourn for up to 30 days for non-work purposes if you have tickets out of Korea.
If your present and future contracts are not continuous you will need a new visa (and all that entails). In other words, it depends on the end date of your present contract and the start date of your future contract.
Is this an unpaid holiday between contracts... or a paid holiday at the end of your present contract? The distinction - dependent on the contract dates - is critical. |

hi cruisemonkey
thankyou for your answer...
there's no mention (in my contract) of a paid holiday at the end the contract...so im guessing this would be classed as an unpaid holiday between contracts
do you think it might be an idea to extend as a continuous visa, and then take the first 2 weeks of the new contract as unpaid holiday?

For sure! It's simpler to extend an existing period of sojourn than get a new visa. |
