I do keep my pants on my waist where they belong...

But my hat is a habit, I don't enjoy spending 30 minutes fixing my hair like some guys do, I do enjoy supporting my university (which is what my hat has on it), and I could really care less what some "uppity" old timer thinks about my hat...

There were 40,000 people at my university, you think everyone is gonna dress exactly the same way? Not really... 12 million in Seoul? Well by god, there must be at least 3 or 4 different styles there.

Favorite outfit for me: sandals, khaki shorts, Hawaiian shirt, and my hat. What can I say, I'm a chill guy...

Who cares if Americans wear hats? We are going to stick out anyway. Just don't wear them when eating in a restaurant...or in a church/temple....

I agree... my hat comes off in my school or if I am around someone that I have to be respectful to, like if I eat dinner with my boss or something.

I'll assume that the gang from Cheonan isn't offended I wore my hat during dinner since it was all casual and such...

whats the go with wearing it backwards? it achieves nothing..

the cap was made to block sun from your eyes.. i have a problem here because when i was younger, anybody who didn't wear there cap the right way looked like they were crazy.. now, 90% of people i see albeit american, canadian, aussie, kiwi, korean are wearing it backwards having it serve no purpose at all..

fubar said at the gym to keep the sweat away - makes sense

My guess is that the OP saw me walking around Seoul one weekend... I've worn a red hat backwards every day for 5 years now...

Got a goatee too... your point about all of this?

Are you Fred Durst?

(but I kid)

I too wear a baseball cap; and I alternate the way I wear it (but never in "rally" mode). What's it matter? I dress professionally and keep my hair sharp for work, but on the weekend or in the evening I like throwing on the old cap and a pair of worked-in jeans.

If one looks, this isn't Josh NYC's first trollesque post.

why is it that most foreign guys...esp from the U.S. always have to wear a baseball cap backwards? is it like the official dress code for ex-pats? looks pretty lame walking in the subway and noticing that ALL the other foreign guys i see have the stupid backwards cap. even the koreans think it looks stupid.

I have seen one or two newbies doing this.... and who cares.... Are you embarrassed about a fashion statement from another country?

I'm a bit foolish as i don't wear a hat at all. But with all that pollution blocking the Korean sun it doesn't really matter. Very Happy
Do tracky dacks count as baggy pants???? Then I'm in.

A backwards-placed hat could block the sun from the back of one's neck.

There is no instruction written in a hat which tells one how to wear it.

Yeah, I get the Fred Durst thing alot... I didn't know who he was till someone called me that... oh well. I like my hat. It doesn't usually serve the purpose of blocking the sun unless I'm playing golf (it also helps me line up puts and guage wind). Mostly, I like the feeling of it on my head... I like the way it looks, very casual and such and what can I say, I'm a casual kind of guy.

It's strange that your life is so boring that you worry about other people's choice of attire. Who cares if a hat is backwards or forwards or sideways? Who cares if someone is wearing a bandanna or baggy pants? You might think it looks stupid, but how about you post a list of what you wear in the average week, and some people on here can tell you how you're embarrassing yourself.

Depending on the hat, I'll either wear it forwards or backwards. Different hats fit differently. But that's how I've always done it and I see no reason to change now. You could say, "Well, that's alright for college students, but you're an adult now..." I figure anyone who says that has probably lost their youthful appearance, and the only way they can feel better about themselves is to say, "I'm happy with the way I look. I look and act my age. Unlike those 'other people' who still think they're young..."

Sorry - I just get annoyed when people start judging others and trying to make them feel bad about themselves. If someone enjoys wearing a baseball cap backwards, and they like the way they look, who are you to say they shouldn't do that?

Unless you're just trying to conform to your adopted society, and are choosing to be close-minded about things that are done differently than how you do them. If so, then I applaud you for doing such an outstanding job of assimilating the Korean culture...WAY TO GO!!!
