I'm poised to finish a 3 year stint with a haggie.

I have zero complaints regarding salary, severance or anything else financial.

I do wonder how I can collect my pension with ease.

I'm American, on an F-2 visa.

I'll leave the country in the beginning of May for a short jaunt and then return, but don't plan to sign a contract until September or so.

Then the questions:

~ Do you think I can request the pension money on my way out in May and receive it 2-3 months later in Korea?

~ Can I receive it whilst working for another company (if I decided to sign on with someone in the interim)??

~ Are there any laws that forbid you from receiving the pension if you are still in-country, working or not working??

thanks for any insight.

I got my pension in one week with a same-day, return ticket to Japan. Don't know about F-series though. I was an E2.

No. I think that's the trick. My alien card was cancelled and I was on an exit order.

then,..were you in-country when you received it, but not working?

I guess I'm confused by, "...same-day, return ticket to Japan."

F-2 means you are a resident.

I think you have to cancel your F-2 before you can recuperate your pension, otherwise it wouldn't make any sense.

But I could be completely wrong.

Thread title ---> Penison circumstances.

Sean Connery: I've got to ask you about the *beep* Mightier.

Alex Trebek: What? No. No, no, that is The Pen is Mightier.

Get a letter of termination and take it with you to the pension office. That shows you are unemployed and NOT paying into the pension scheme. Buy a one-way REFUNDABLE) ticket to another country. Fill out your lump sum paper work and pray. You may get lucky, like I did. It helps if your wife is there explaining that you are not working, you need the money for the two of you to immigrate to XYZ country, etc. (basically lie) Good luck. It's hit or miss. You may get lucky.
