I've been here for nearly a year now and am hankering for some decent aussie wine.

Aussies would have to agree that no other country in the world produces better wines than oz. Last time Iwas in japan i got a couple from there but i want a decent supply!

no jacobs creek and cheap hardys. top rosemounts, wolf blasses and petalumas....heaven....

Anyway, I live in suwon so any info on suwon and seoul would be great. please don't write promoting italian and french or californian wines b'cause i can only drink that stuff occasionally.

I saw some in COSTCO, but dont' remeber the name.

Saw some in Shinsegae express bus terminal store. But it was very expensive. Seemed to be a total absence of Hunter Valley Reds (damn I miss home). I have recently been told that you can import the stuff (by the case) directly from the vineyards, but gosh knows at what price. Seven 11 actually had some WA Reds on the shelf at one stage, so if you have one nearby, check them out.
Barring that, any Aussies coming over could maybe squeeze a few bottles past customs.

costco, save zone, hyundai dept. store, carrefour, small liquor shops in apgujeong...you can buy a decent shiraz for around 10-15,000...i've seen cheaper cabs and merlots for under 10,000...

All I know is the stuff at Home Plus in Dongsuwon, which is...Jacob's Creek gunk. Not that I mind the stuff...

Yeah, getting a decent bottle of wine is a problem. Korean beer is quite drinkable, but as for korean wine, don't bother. In Kimpo, I found a specialty shop that carried imported hard stuff and wines, but it wasn't cheap. Ask around your school. I'm sure your owner would know of such a shop. The best deal I saw was a '95 Houghton Cab for 17000. It was excellent.

Aussie wines are OK.....but my preference is a good bottle of French or Italian red.........(each to his own eh).

No lack of Aussie wine here.......not sure about Suwon but in Seoul try:

Home Plus.......best selection and price me thinks (subway line 2....Mullae)

Costco.........lots of Aussie wine

Kims Club.......Express Bus Terminal......Exit 14 (I think)

Anyway, you should have no problem indulging here!

Im an aussie who used to live in Suwon...and i found some good Aussie Wine at Home Plus in suwon. I remember there was heaps to chose from.
Also try the Carre Four.

anybody know about New Zealand wines?

I have found White Cloud at e-mart and Lotte department store, but that is it, and White Cloud is pretty damn average.

I have tried aussie, spanish and american since being here. the aussie wine was rather tasty, even a beer drinker like myself could appreciate the taste.

There's a chain called Kaja; they sell imported wines and liquors. There's one here in Myeongil-Dong, and I've seen others elsewhere. Prices are comparable to those in the U.S., so probably about twice what you'd pay in a country that cares a great deal for wine.

I found decent wines in my local GS25. Not the best but very drinkable.

Some are reasonably priced others are just a bit too much. I can justify the Chilian wine at 25k but not the Black Tower rose for 19k.

I second the CostCo reply. They have a few there but the names slip my mind, too.

Being an Aussie I love Australian wines, but I've managed to find a lot of excellent Californian wines at very good prices.

I don't like Aussie wine at all but, you know, wine is such a personal thing.... Considering Korea's ridiuclous import taxes, I stick to Chilean stuff. Lotte mart (at least the one by me at Seoul Yuk) has a pretty solid wine selection by Korean standards (every store here seems to have the same stuff anway - must be the same importers) - I would head there for wine unless your looking for a nice selection of higher end stuff
