Hi everyone
I'm a certified Canadian teacher about to make the leap to teaching in Korea.
I have a job offer from Canada International School in Daegu and was wondering if anyone had:
a) heard or worked for CIS
b) lived in Daegu and could offer me a snapshot of life in Daegu
thanks! |

I am quite sure that they are a hogwan that calls themselves an international school. In other words they are not a real international school. They do that to try and charge the students more.
How much are the offering and what sort of holidays. |

Daegu's a nice place to live. Hot in summer and cold in winter, but a good subway system, mountain scenery, and western amenities. Close to Busan and beaches and on the KTX link to Seoul.
In Vietnam, every tourist internet cafe calls itself "high speed DSL" even if it's a telephone line connected with chewing gum. These sorts of school names, SuperDeluxe Canadian Icelandic Cambridge International Emporium of Learning, might not mean anything. I haven't heard of this place, and the actual international schools in Korea don't have a great reputation anyway.
Do what you're doing. Stay away from recruiters, seek out some schools you like, ask on Dave's or somewhere else for a report, go with your intuitions.
