I know that you said you wanted a pay as u go, but LG will give you a contract phone with just your ARC and bankbook. They have several low-budget monthly plans. One of the easiest ways for a foriegner to get a cell phone by yourself.

show normally have second hand phones that you can pick up super cheap and get connected on a pay as you go plan at the same time.

Im on contract, but my co-workers all go to show and get some really nice phones for quite cheap (15-35000 won)

yeah just be careful you don't lose your phone or it's a giant freaking headache.

If you lose your phone a replacement costs about 400,000 won for using the same number

If you want to cancel your contract you have to pay a premium... about 35,000 plus the minium monthly charge of the remaining years on your contract. And you have to wait till the end of month to start a new contract...

I'm having a giant giant headache right now because of it... wish i bought a pay as you go phone...

Well I know the LG stores do have pay as you go.

You CAN get a cheap ass phone that is pay as you go

The issue is you can't get a "good phone" with pay as you go (which is my issue because I'm snooty)

Also, pay as you go has a huge premium price if you are a constant talker and msg a lot... But if you only plan to use it once in a while it's more than adequate.

On average a text message from any other carrier is about 8 won per.
On a pay as you go its about 34.

That's 3 times the price. Doesn't seem like a lot now but i have about 2000 messages monthly. I pay about... 40,000 won for the minium balance and calls included. ....

Pay as you go woudl be: 68,000 won... just for text mesages.
On average, if that was your monthly bill you would pay 20,000 on average more.

So if you're careless like me or get drunk a lot, don't get a "land line"
Get a Pay as you go phone. Saves you the headache I'm going through now. Foreigners are only allowed 1 freaking line. and LG is really your only choice. Unless you have a credit card, because SK telecom only takes CC.

Just get the arc card first.....it only takes a week...

Then go to LG...avoid SK like the plague unless you want to be raped monthly.

Just say "PPS", that means pre pay.

Cheap is 싸다, so 싼핸드폰을사고싶어요 is "I want to buy a cheap phone" (pretty clunky but it's the only way I know how to say it).

Are you stuck only going back to the same store with a pay as you go phone when you want to get more credit? Or can you just go to any affiliate store?
