I just returned from the Korean consulate with my Korean wife and our 2 year old son where we applied for my F-2 spousal visa. I was told that it is the only visa available for me as a spouse and that it takes 3 weeks to issue.

Does this mean that that the F-2-1 visa is no longer issued?

Will I be able to work on this visa?

Does it allow for multiple entries?

Please help.

Thank you

Since my son is also on a US passport, will he need an F3 visa?

The F-2 and the F-2-1 are the same thing. That's what you'll get if you're married to a Korean and apply correctly.

I have no idea about your child.

Children are given dual citizenship until age 18. At that point they need to choose one or the other as Korea does not allow duel citizenship.

No. You need to apply for it separately.

No. Kids up to the age of 18 can have both. The only thing is that he MAY BE drafted into the military if your wife adds him to her hojock (family registry). I've heard of it happening.

I thought it was 21 and registering shouldn't matter if he declared US Citizenship at 21. There is no way the US would sit by and let a citizen be drafted in to another countries army.

No. 18.

That must be a US rule.
Because Korean laws dictate prior to their 22nd birthday

Likewise, as article 12 reads, a dual national shall select one nationality before he reaches
22 years of age. It states

Well then they must have changed it because my ex-husband's daughter had to choose when she was 18 a few years ago.
