My son was hit tonight by a scooter. He was not hurt much, but mainly scared. The scooter man then started to cuss out my wife. She said he screamed at her then left the scene without waiting for the police. My wife being a fast thinker got the number of the restaurant he works for and waited for the police. She also kept a bunch of students at the playground without letting them leave so they could tell the police about it.

Before you ask I wasn't there and she did not call me. She also will not give me the telephone number of the resaturant because she knows that if I was there I would have been arrested myself. Might still be if I can find the guy.

Anyway, the police are moving very slowly at this point. Each police officer we talk to says that it is not their responisibilty.

Does anyone know a good lawyer I can contact about this. I would like to be able to get this as*hole arrested. It really pisses me off that he left the scene and screamed at my wife.

Thanks

Could be, could be.

I have always known that the Korean police were incompentent, but now I have first hand experience. I would call the embassy on Monday but I also know that they are worthless too.

Find the restaurant the guy works at and b1tch out the owner. Threaten to sue. Getting the guy fired is about the best you can do. Hiring a lawyer would be a waste of money - you have no damages worth pursuing. You'll pay a lot in legal fees and end up with the same result of getting the guy fired.

The same thing happened to me once. But the guy was cool and he apologized so I just didn't do anything.

You can't get him arrested if the police are not willing to do it. A lawyer will not help as there is a difference between civil and criminal law. All you can do is sue, but as I mentioned, you have no damages.

My wife said that if he had apologized that she would have let it go. Now she is trying to find a doctor to say my son needs to stay in the hospital for three weeks. If the doctor says three weeks then the scooter driver goes to jail and pays blood money.

However, I don't think a doctor will say three weeks. My son is just going to have a bruise. But maybe I will find a crooked doctor. Shocked

Just talked to the police again and they said that they don't handle hit and runs. The department that does that is in another part of town. They will be back at work on Monday and then they will investigate.

So I will have to wait until Monday to find out what will happen.

I suggested calling the restaurant but my wife thinks the driver was the owner so I can't try to get him fired.

As someone said, There are no damages so even if I sue the guy, I would not get any money.

I heard about civil court where you can sue without a lawyer, maybe I will investigate that method later. I would like to make the guy pay somehow. Just to show him he can't break the law and get away with it because he is a KOREAN MAN and has a KOREAN *beep*!

This is the type of thing that needs to be disciplined every single time.

Don't let up. Call a lawyer, let us know how it turns out.

You know, I don't know what I find more disturbing: a negligently dangerous scooter driver or someone willing to lie to put another man in jail. On second thought, I find the later worse. Certainly he should be punished by losing his job, but asking for blood money and trying to put an innocent (in the sense that he did not do what you are accusing him of) man in jail is heinous.

One day you're son is going to realize that his parents are cut-throat liars who tried to imprison an innocent man. I'm guessing that will hurt him more than a bruise.

I think I will have to wait until Monday for the police to get around to investigating.

I checked the website. I will give them a call after the police do their thing on Monday.

But the facts are that he is a KOREAN MAN and has a KOREAN *beep*, so I'd just let it go and teach your kid to be more careful. But I don't think you're gonna like that.

Were I a betting man I would bet that you are right and that there will be nothing I can do about it, but teach my son to look out for all the idiot drivers out there.

But I still like to B*tch about it. Very Happy
