I'm looking at buying a DSLR and I see prices on GMarket a bit lower than retail prices in the States. Like arround $280-300 for a low end model (olympus e-420 or Nikon D40). Am I missing soimething?

Consider the Canon EOS 1000D. It's in your price range.

Or, if you want to spend a bit more, look at the EOS 450D.
