|

So my coteacher just dropped this bomb on me. Told me I need to create a writing rubric for the entire semester for each middle school class level. YAY!
Of course it was too much tell me 2 months ago when I started desk warming.
So basically does anyone have any good sources/tips on this? For the first year they want me to start very basic with things like "The dog is big". And somehow explain to these kids the "rules" of writing. Sigh*

I used to score standardized tests for ESL kids. They usually had to write an essay about a picture. This might give you a start, depending on the level of your students.
0: no English
1: Uses some English words, but does not communicate thoughts coherently.
2: Most words are in English, sentences may be fragmented.
3: All English words using simple sentences, or may attempt more complex sentences with frequent grammatical errors
4: Uses complex sentence structures with few grammatical errors. |
