Probably the only thing worse than having a "non-American" accent is having dark skin.

Well I'm an aussie and I was lucky enough to find a job (sort of) in Seoul. I'm working at ECC in Gwacheon - it only takes about 1/2 an hr by subway to the middle of seoul.
While this probably isn't at all helpful for you, it may be encouraging that there may be other employers around that accept non north-americans. by the way, the other 2 foreign teachers at my hagwon are from canada and new zealand(!).

Thanks Beebay, that is encouraging. I'm still looking, but arriving in Korea soon will hopefully help my cause.
