ditch her, she should at least have the decency to hide her racism from you until you meet in person |

A friend of mine when I first met her said the same thing as the OP's. Yet, she had studied in the West, knows lots of foreigners and frequently uses English. I wouldn't call it 'racist' but I certainly was angry. I'm not a teacher but I know when and when not to stick up for them. |

Since when are all English Teachers a specific race? You should have said 'xenophobic', or simply 'bigoted'. |
You're completely right. |

I always found the response of "So? Your point?" works just fine. I guess you could add, "by the same logic, most Korean women are hookers, so how much for an overnight?" |
I actually said something very similar, to which she replied "I don't want to have this argument with you at work" |

How about doing your best to prove her wrong?
With the reputation we have here it's not unforgivable for a young girl with little experience with foreigners to have misconceptions.
Be a gentleman, introduce her to your friends (if they aren't criminals that is) and show her that we're a decent group of people. |

With their skirts so high and their prices so low, Korean women definitely bear some of the responsibility for turning us into criminals. |

This "young girl" is 30 and has years of experience hiring foreigners as an executive manager for a large company. She also lived in America and speaks English fluently.
So much for benefit of the doubt, eh? |

Sometimes people can be fluent in English or another language yet lack subteties or tact.
But,
It is possible that her years in the US actually showed her that there is much crime there. When returning to Korea and her family etc she might have found in her vicinity is more peace etc than what she had in the States.
I have the same feeling about NZ. My life there (life around me) was crime ridden in comparison to here. |

Tell her that her marriage window is closed and she'll be one of those spinster, ajummas that Takeshima picks up at Geckos. |

What do you do if you're chatting up a Korean girl, either online or in person, and she proves herself to be a close-minded ignorant racist by saying something like "a lot of English teachers are criminals"?
This happened to me today and I basically told her she was too ignorant and unsophisticated to talk to a foreigner, and stopped talking to her. (This was online) |
You mean like how some so-called English teachers sound on this forum?
And English teachers are not a race, so it wasn't racist...xenophobic is the term you are looking for. No, no don't thank me, your apparent realization that such things are bad is thanks enough. |

This would be too reasonable and level-headed for most of the Dave's regulars. You might as well throw pearls to swine. Like pointing out the irony to the OP that he's frequently expressed borderline racist attitudes about Koreans. Better not to rock the boat and just continue with the non-stop Korea/Korean bashing though. |

Logical fallacies abound.
I remember when NOW was on my uni campus giving some sort of seminar, the speaker said something along the lines of all men without exception are potential rapists. A particularly irate gentleman in the seats stood up and shouted "And all women are potential whores!" before walking out. |
