I see iptime and nespot all over Korea on my iPod Touch and can connect to them however I don't get internet from them.

My boss has a nespot account at work for his computer, and I can logonto it, but no internet. I assume it's a username/password kind of deal, but I'd love to be able to get internet from iptime (like I can on my laptop) with my iPod Touch. Does anybody know how?

I usually have no probs with logins with iptime (they usually are not locked) but Nespot in my experience are always asking for a password via a login screen (reroutes homepage everytime). I use a Palm T/X and a Blackberry 8320 (not activated only use for organiser and wifi) and each time no issues.

Make sure you have java/scripting enabled on your itouch browser and it should reroute you at least to a login screen.

I subscribe to Nespot Play and use it all the time on my ipod touch. Only costs 3,300won per month. Just give them the MAC address of your ipod touch and it will automatically connect. Works brilliantly.

So can you use any nespot wifi link??

can you cancel the subsciption at any time, or are you tied to a contract?

Is there a download limit?

Thanks

As far as I know, yes, any Nespot access point works. Keep in mind this is only for the Ipod Touch, PSP, and some camera i think. With my IPod, I have never had a problem anywhere.

There is no contract. Just call their English number (can't remember what it is), fax a copy of you bank book and ID card and thats it. Go to the Megapass website and register your MAC address and your done.

It's unlimted. For 3,300won I think it's an amazing deal. I've been using it for a year now with no problems.

Can anybody find the English number to call and get this stuff to them? What if I don't have a scanner or fax machine?

I went into the local kt office today and they did it all there for me. you just need your bankbook, alien registration card and your mac address for your ipod (best to bring this with you) the mac address is in settings, general, about and is called wifi address or something like that.

it took the girl two hours today to sort it out while we waited as she made a mistake and wasn't trained how to do it, but she did it in the end!

once she enters the stuff in you dont have to do anything, you dont have to enter passwords or log on, it just recognises your mac address and away you go (but can take a while to log on, its not seamless)

Is it possible to broadcast a small wifi hotspot from a USB port, taking internet access from the wired signal coming into the laptop. I want to be able to get internet connection for my Itough from my work laptop.

On someone's recommendation I bought and IPTime N100U2 USP divice with the understanding that it would do this.

I'm really not sure, but there is a chance there's some kit that will do this. Networking isn't my strong point! It might be a tricky task.

The easier option is to not be cheap and pay 3,300 won per month; you dont even need a contract and you can get a wireless signal virtual anywhere because it connects to all those nespot sites that seem to be everywhere in korea.

If you do a google search you can find several little usb devices that will create a wap, some made especially for a psp. I haven't tried any of them so I'm not overly familiar with them.

It's irrelevant whether or not it's a Mac or a PC, wifi is the standard, and the Mac has wifi.

You can get it for the Mac, but it's much more expensive than the iPod subscription (the iPod only nespot play is stuck to the mac address of the iPod)

An option for when 3.0 OS comes out is that you could possibly tether your iPod to the Mac, thereby getting internet on your Mac for 3,300 won per month. Might be worth waiting on that. Another alternative is the jailbreak the touch.

wanted to bump this post since the information in it continues to be useful.

I found this post while googling "nespot play" and it helped me register for the service - best deal for unlimited wifi access if you've got an ipod.

I called KT at 1588-8448 (think you can also call them at 02-100). After I scanned and emailed them a copy of my ARC (they tell you to fax the ARC, but ask if you can scan and email it) and gave them my account info, they set me up over the phone. I was transferred to a tech who asked me for my ipod's MAC address, and after that I could access the nespot wifi hotspots.

Now I love my ipod touch even more!
