Fortuneteller Caught Forcing Prostitution

By Park Si-soo
Staff Reporter
A fortuneteller was apprehended on suspicion of forcing a woman to have sex with hundreds of men, police said Tuesday.
In 2002, the fortuneteller, identified as Kim, 33, told the victim, identified as Park, who was 20 years old at that time, that she must stay with her to drive out bad luck and directed her to borrow 2 million won ($1,300) from the fortuneteller's mother, a loan shark. Her debt snowballed to tens of millions of won due to exorbitant interest rates for only a couple of months. Since then she has been forced into prostitution.
Police said the fortuneteller and her family members reaped more than 1 billion won through the forced prostitution with about 500 male clients over the last five years.
Police last week confiscated a document containing 500 men's names and contact numbers from the fortuneteller. Police have been summoning them for questioning.
``The list, allegedly written by the victim, provides detailed information including names, dates, phone numbers and money she received for providing sex,'' a police officer said. ``It would be impossible for the men to deny their involvement in the illicit sex trade.''
Meanwhile, the victim will file a compensation suit against Kim. ``Even though the financial gains from prostitution are illegal, it was against her will,'' said Kwon Mee-hye, a lawyer dealing with the suit on the victim's behalf. ``We expect her to get back 1 billion won from the illegally collected funds.''

This is very common in South Korea. Loan sharks that force women into prostitution. The Japanese banned slavery in the early 20th century but darn it if Koreans don't want it back. Really pathetic actually. |

A fortune teller involved in the sex trade? There has to be a joke in there about not seeing something/someone coming. |

"Don't know why I'm on the list."
"Not me."
"I turned her down for a date once and then she wrote down my name to get me in trouble."
How hard is it to deny their involvement in the illicit sex trade, really? Having your name on a sex worker's list doesn't automatically act as evidence, unless it is in this banana republic. Okay, not a lot of bananas, so this tangerine republic. |

Loan sharks, fortune tellers, and sex workers--the Korean trifecta. |

And then revived it in WWII with the use of "comfort women" ( and POWS as slave labour.)
Come now, you are starting to sound like the SEWERs (Silly Emotive Whiners Embracing Racism) who will always omit this part.
Hey it's fitting. We've got CRAP and now we have SEWERS.

I'll take a wild guess and say that GuriGuy has NO CLUE. It's just something he's heard somewhere and, based on his own prejudices, has decided that it MUST be true. Standard Dave's drivel. |

Going back to the use of POWS as slave labor. You (GG) might want to read http://www.rense.com/general8/pows.htm
Over 400 former POWS were interviewed...so plenty of eyewitness testimony. |
