Hello!
Anybody knows how is it possible to get a Guiding licence in Korea? Is there a course or something like this?
I'm an official tour-guide in my home-country Hungary, but I believe that licence is not good in foreign countries.
Any ideas if it's maybe possible to expand this licence so it would be valid in Korea too?
Thank You! |

To get a guiding licence in K-land, you must first pass the 'carry-a-little-flag-on a-stick' test. After a six-month internship, a minimun score of 80% is reqiured on the exams for each of the following courses:
Kimchee - Don't Leave Home Without It
Theory and Practice of Herding Techniques (this course has a mandatory 3-unit lab section - Practical Applications of Border Collies)
Korean History - A Proud 5000 Years Of Being Stepped On
King Sejon and the Hangul Alphabet
Admiral Lee Sung-shin and Japan
The Buddahist Temple - Not Just Another Gaishly-Painted Wooden Structure Waiting To Burn Down

Where are you situated at? If you live in Seoul or near it, you could always visit the Korea Tourist Organization's HQ (한국관광공사) and ask them. On the bottom of THIS page you can find the address and other contact information.
I think that Korea could really use some foreign tour guides. Heck, they should hire me as well! Good luck! |

Don't forget the trying-to-speak-intelligibly-into-a-crappy-W10,000-portable-mic-and-speaker test. Then there's always the what's-the-crappiest-place-we-can-find-to-have-a-picnic test. |

SeoulFinn, thanks a lot!
I'm situated in Bundang, but going to Seoul is no problem either.. Unfortunately I can't see Korean characters with this computer but once I decoded the signs I will definitely check it, thanks
If you are interested in guiding too, I will let you know if I had any success.
Thanks again and bye!
(Btw, you are from Finland? That's really great my bf is from there, too Are you studying or working here?) |
