Anyone else feel like the world is heading straight for a war? I'm not talking the war on terror or whatever, like all out world war. With the economy like it is, the Middle East still trying to destroy each other, North Korea set to launch a missile/satellite/monkey/RC rocket/whatever it is, the Taliban surrounding Kabul, and many other factors I foresee this getting very, very bad.

Anyone with me?

If not I at least have the backing of one of my classes of 13 year olds

relax..... The world has always had big problems and always will.

You have a degree in history, then you must know that things where bad in most of the past ex. slavery, the holocaust, World War 1, 2, Cold war, Vietnam, Korea, cuban missle crisis, and it goes on and on.......

BTW I think relative to history things are normal.

I don't have a History degree, but I am paranoid delusional and I'm behind you 100%~! Ask anyone here!

Not sure the two of us can convince the middle school debate team here, though.
Coach Enrico Pavoratti has his sights on the title this term after his embarassing defeat to Don Koharski's band o'rascals from [another forum] last year.

WW3 is nothing. I grew up with a father who claimed/claims that the apocolypse will be upon us at anytime (he's a northern baptist). Total doom and gloom. After a while I just quit caring and decided to have a positive attitude about the world.

Don't teach negativity to children because it will f&*ck them up.

I'm hoarding belly button lint. In the event of a World war, and in the (ok, unlikely) event that there is a sudden demand for belly button lint, I'm going to corner the market.
I think I'll figure out how to grade the little puffs now.

haha

this thread was meant as a joke, although it is depressing when you get on cnn.com and only see doom and gloom on the homepage

I've not read the news nearly as much as I usually do this past 2 weeks, so my view may be a little dated, but I think there's a higher than usual probability of war between Israel and Iran, and India and Pakistan/Afghanistan, in 2009. The North Korea business I don't see as terribly serious in comparison, but I don't follow events up North much.

world war 3! its funny how they call it that! I mean how many wars have their been in the past 10.000 years??? more than 2 big ones IM sure..

there will always be fighting... personally I think the big super powers are out of the beating each other to a pulp faze and now all looking at buying each other! its an economical era ! small countries will still fight it out and one of the big guns will just come in like a lion finishing off a dying zebra!
and control that country...

It's not a matter of how.. its a matter of when!

just hope its not my country and/or anywhere near me if there is a war in my life time...

Einstein is probably right in saying WW4 will be fought with sticks and stones, but saved face in saying he not know what weapons WW3 will be fought with as he invented the design for those. These are what the NORKS are working on so they can initiate the big showdown they been dreaming up for over 50 years. It's taken the NORKS all this time to develop WMD, but it's almost time they unleash a few fire dragons on Asia and possibly on other places like Alaska as Russia and China wants Alaska out of US ownership. Someone needed to go put a stop to the NORKS years ago and just have one Korea administered like the South is, but didn't, becuase China and Russia are behind them. I believe this little regime is under estimated since it didn't have the means before, but now it very near to realizing the means of atomic warheads and willing to use them when they know they can fire off enough to beat other countries like Japan at the press of a button. This is China and Russia's way to intimidate without directly making threats. I call it the passive aggressive approach, a common attribute of Asian cultures.
