British horror movie Eden Lake wasn't too bad.

Fans of Watchmen will be pleased to find the two DVD featurettes Under the Hood and Tales of the Black Freighter now available on the finer torrent sites.

The latter is a cartoon, I think, and the former is a live action faux-documentary.

Last night I watched the pilot episode of Better Off Ted, a new American sit-com. It aims to please the same audience who liked Arrested Development, the Office, 30 Rock, and that sort of thing. It's not bad; nor is it particularly great. I chuckled a couple of times...it's kind of a Dilbert meets Mad Men sort of thing, but not a cartoon or a period piece.
Portia DeRossi (i think that's her name) plays the amusingly sociopathic boss.
It has potential.

Just finished watching the first season of Breaking Bad and I have to say that it's one of the better shows on American TV.
Season 2 just started about 3 weeks ago, so I now have a lot of pleasurable catching up to do.

That wacky Bill Paxton/ Chloe Sevigny/ Harry Dean Stanton HBO drama Big Love really got rolling this last season. People started to explode, sometimes literally, and there were man-eating pigs and pitchforks and murders and kidnappings and Shocking Revelations and Expulsions into Outer Darkness and Everything. Good show! The over-the-top American Gothic vibe completely took over and left the Suburban Pathetic facade shivering, beaten, and curled up naked in a foetal ball on its nicely mown lawn. So to speak. Really viciously excellent finale to season three.

I'm really digging into New York, a 16 hour (I think) PBS documentary history of that city. Very cool stuff. Being focused on NYC itself, it winds up being a great survey course of American History in general--social, to an extent military, economic, and of course, being New York, architectural. I think it's from 1998.

The new movie by Alex Proyas (I think) with Nicolas Cage, Knowing, was pretty decent. Some rather devastating action sequences, etc. Also Serial Experiment: Lain and Perfect Blue for the anime heads out there.

Taking the advice of other posters, I watched The Wackness (really liked it), Dr. Strangelove (interesting, not like what I expected), the Australian show Underbelly (think Aussie Sopranos-lite), and I caught the pilot of Party Down, a show starring D-Man from Step Brothers and some other decently funny people. It was ok- I'll give it a shot if it's picked up.

BBC's Amazon with Bruce Parry, the guy who also made 'Tribe'. It's a documentary about the Amazon in which he travels from the source of the river in Peru, through Brazil and out into the Atlantic Ocean. There are 6 episodes and I've just finished watching the fourth. It's been pretty good so far.

Wooo...somebody leaked Wolverine. It's a working copy, and some CGI needs to be put in a few spots. You can still see green screen.
This is kind of big news actually...here's the BBC reporting on it.

Apparently it's pretty silly looking without the effects.
