Just in case this thread survives...
All Saturday:
Leafs, Rangers, panthers, lightening, canucks....

I don't understand why people give hanson a hard time. It's just a game.

I think the Saturday, Sunday thing was a good idea. It is just by chance that I chose all Saturday games.

Lets chill out as we are almost at the end.

btw, it's the *THE BIG ESLCAFE NHL SATURDAY NIGHT PICK 5 - 2008-09* contest NOT the sunday contest...the sunday one is another thread. Evil or Very Mad

sure, trivialize and strip the essential integrity of a great Dave's ESL Cafe tradition... yet, last i checked, isn't picking only SATURDAY NIGHT games NO MATTER how few (and there has never been fewer than 6 NHL games played on a SATURDAY NIGHT) the goddam challenge behind the contest? the whole idea is when the games are few, the picks are few and that's when the men are men and the women are women and the true ice blue, die hard NHL fans rise to the occasion? Evil or Very Mad

rules are fuckin' rules are they not? it sorta brings a sense of secure equilibrium into our lives, n'est-ce pas?

gee, kids today... Confused

i agree entirely

Oh, I'm sure you do.

and would add:

RULES SHOULD BE CHANGED WITH PLENTY OF FORESIGHT if at all, once a game is going. Last minute changes the very same week is mickey mouse.

many of us don't check this thread more than once or twice a week

so it's not like we had time to object when this idea was floated. it is an idea out of the blue. one shows up to make one's picks for the week and whammo, the entire premise of the game has been changed.

Imagine that! The ENTIRE PREMISE! What's the world coming to???

But let's let Hanson do what he wants. It's his game, his rules. He wants to change them. So be it. We need not take this too seriously.

Yes! He's been doing this all season!!! It's not like someone made a suggestion and NO-ONE replied. Once again, he went on his maverick way (no doubt to underhandedly gain an advantage).

Laughing what a season!

can you believe that we're actually able to stay within distance of his lead, given all the atrocities he's committed?

The important thing is to get engaged about hockey. Though discussion around this thing hasn't been ideal. It's at least something. Remember: we're in a country of nonhockey fans. It seems like every gwaddang sport in the world is accepted by Koreans except hockey. 'Too violent' they say. But they watch K1 and numerous other kick the guy in the head shows. Bah....

uhmm, an irrelevant tangent, ok.

Let's just get past this week and keep the rules as they were for the remainder of the season. I think we can all agree on that?

Oh yes, we can all agree. And yes, please let's just get past this. I can't recall how many calls I've had to make to the doctor because of this. I wonder how many years this has taken off my lifespan, although I refuse to let it get the better of me.

Congratulations VI for:

1. Lasting 7 weeks
2. Out-doing yourself

First, going for about 7 weeks before this recent 'panic' attack.
Second, I didn't think it could get more anal than the first attack, but you've proved me wrong.

Of course, I am a bit dismayed because by your words: "let's just play". So imagine my surprise when you jump on the first chance to go politicking. Heck, it might have even been a good move for you had it not been for the fact that the post was probably heckling (humor?/drunk talk?--I'm assuming, let's have TBND give his own angle. We can just stick to logic and consistency with regard to Hanson's decision). You're attack on Hanson smacks of a lying-in-wait strategy, especially when he was going on another's suggestion and the aforementioned above post.

Now don't get me wrong: whatever decision people make here, including Hanson bowing out, that is theirs to make. What I do take exception to is the utterly reprehensible attempt to malign another's intentions. You shamelessly insinuate that Hanson is playing by his own rules and not taking into account how others feel on the matter. As though he has cunningly sprung 'surprises' on us over and over again.

I'm not sure if you're obsessive/compulsive or suffer from some sort of panic disorder, but hey, if you're so frickin anal-->why don't you take a minute or two to look at Saturday's games to see where the blips show up during the year? Out of 27 weeks of hockey this year, there was one time (week 16, no Saturday games--remember?) where Hanson suggested making up for the week by having a Wednesday night. Although you made it in time, you nevertheless felt the need to bitch and complain. Ok, fair enough. I'm sure with an exception like that, if you were to miss it, hell who would object to letting you have a go with a mid-week game the next week or whatever.

This recent BS is beyond me. Hanson has been quite consistent with his 'rules'. He's mentioned before, IF EVEN ONE PERSON IS AGAINST A SUGGESTION, WHICH I MADE BY THE WAY (YOU'VE CONVENIENTLY IGNORED THIS FOR SOME REASON), THEN IT'S A NO-GO! And this is why I put 'rules' in quotations--CUS THEY'RE OPEN TO SUGGESTION. The last was Crusher kiboshing the All-Star game. I didn't weigh in right away, waiting to see what others thought, but was happy it was out and said so. Had it carried, I'd be like the majority here and play it and not bitch about it later by making 'time constraint' complaints.

You're to have us believe that you never seen my suggestion made last sunday until the bitter end? so you never checked last weeks results until about friday this week right? Cus it was right under there.

For the record, I simply made a suggestion and would have ABSOLUTELY NO PROBLEM WITH IT BEING KIBOSHED. It was actually more hassle for Hanson obviously. So now, 7 weeks after the last MASSIVE IMPROPRIETY TO AGGRAVATE YOUR INDIGNATION, NOW THIS! OMG, is this one of the bigger problems in your life? Ever have your boss do a 'change-up' in your schedule? How in the world do you cope?

Allow me to assuage your future fears: It took me about one minute to see that the next 3 weeks have 11, 11, and 13 games respectively.

WATER OFF A DUCK'S BACK + WATER UNDER THE BRIDGE

You feel the need to 'set things straight', being the way you are. By the same token, I've have done the same. Ok? Having said my peace, I'm with the majority in saying "chill" and play on.

What was that? Shocked

If rocknroll isn't a Hanson sock then I'm flabbergasted at the emotionality, the spitting venom of that post.

That's me responding in kind to your post. If you were balanced (that's a loaded word, lol) and rationally pointed out what your 'beef' was and did so in a respectful fashion, I'd be sure to reply in the same manner.

If rocknroll isn't a Hanson sock then I'm flabbergasted at the emotionality, the spitting venom of that post.

Oh, the ole 'I can't possibly get my way out of this one', throw in the 'sock'. Let's not give this any credence, cus you know it's hogwash, and you've allowed your way out using it as a hypothetical. (at anyrate, this is not hard to establish, given post history and writing style etc.).

So, you're 'flabbergasted' at the 'emotionality' /'venom' of the post, totally ignoring your response(S)--the current emotional outburst some 7 weeks of the last 'emotional outlash'. Mister ' Me and my friends aren't afraid to...blah blah' suddenly can't deal with the logic/rationality of it all?

Oh, you can use emotion and venom but if anyone disagrees, they must be a 'sock' or perhaps too emotional? Then perhaps you're remiss since after your first outburst, there seems to have been support for Hanson. Maybe you can refresh your memory by looking at the responses some time after. It would seem with your 'logic' that Hanson may have several socks in this thread (damn, could that be a paranoid disorder?)

You write an emotional response in order to attack someone, then when you get your own medicine you do what? Accuse someone of being 'emotional' then you respond with what? An emotional response...fricking hilarious.

anyways, nothing personal

If you had presented rational reasoning in a non-condescending/respectful mannner, you would be believable. Now you attack the response (yes, as vitriolic as yours) in a condescending, dismissive manner in order to deflect from the real facts at hand (which you obvioulsy must be intelligent enough to understand , i'll certainly give you that, yet would like to continue the politicking in hopes of what??)

*exists this thread*

Well, you can always say this, but I know you'll look at it, now won't you? I guess the beauty of it, is you can't shoot the shit about it, unless you mention: 'yeah I did look back at it'. Now, given that you've never apologized or admitted to anything in this 'nhl' thread, I'll bet the house that you'd never have the balls to admit it. So now, like I mentioned before, back to water under the bridge---I'm there. Although it's not necessary for the others to have to read this, I know this is necessary for you...GET OFF IT AND CARRY ON...I THINK THIS WILL HELP YOU IN THE FUTURE, IF NOT, HEY I FRIGGIN TRIED.
