Hello, Bits!
Hello, Dumass!
I don't think either of you will have any problem.
The prototypical foreign English teacher is in his twenties and fresh out of college, although most are older than 20, so I don't think Dumass will have any problem. (Dumass either started first grade early or was a gifted student.)
Some employers discriminate one way and some employers discriminate the other way. One party says that teachers should be fun and entertaining, the other party says that teachers should be dedicated and diligent. So I don't think either Bits or Dumass would have any problem.
I say that both stereotypes are ill-founded, and that a candidate should e judged on his or her own merits.
I'd like to think I'm strong in both areas.

The topic of preschool has come up.
There may be some truth to what Kangnam Dragon and Squid say, but I am of the older set and haven't had trouble getting preschool teaching jobs. (Some preschool directors discriminate on the basis of gender, however.)
Teachers wishing to teach preschool are rare, so there is less competition for preschool jobs. Bits and Dumass, if either of you are capable of teaching preschool, by all means put it on your resume. |
