I love the barbeque, too. Dolsot bibimbap is fantastic as well.

Good Kal Guk Soo is well...good.

There's another kind of seafood stew here that has a lot more funky different vegetables in it and less noodles which is also good. Can't remember the name.

JaJang Sewoo/Sehu/Se-u(새우) Bokeumbop

I know, it's "Chinese", but since I've only seen it in Korea, I'll call it Korean.

닭도리탕 is one of my favorites. Pieces of chicken with some veggies--potatoes, carrots, onions in a spicy red soup. If you are nice, the ajumma will put in extra potatoes.

I basically have two favourites; one I eat often, and the other, unfortunately not often enough because I can't find it in Busan.

1) Doegi-guk-bap, which I lived on for months after I first arrived here because I loved it so much.

2) Andong Gym-dak, which is about the spiciest thing I've ever eaten in the ROK, but it's too big a meal for just one person.

Try buldalk. That dish is pure fire at times. Mine is 돼지고기 수육 (boiled pork slices) and 냉면 (cold buckwheat noodles in broth with an egg and garnishes). Good all year round.

Some of my favorites:

김치닭갈비: Kimchi Dalk Galbi. It's a spicier, greasier, more likely-to-cause-diarrhea version of the aforementioned Dalk Galbi.

추어탕: Choo Eo Tang. Choo Eos are "mudfish", or "loaches". I'm not a big fan of fishy soup, but with Choo Eos they shove em into the blender and put it on liquify. The result is a nice thick broth that is quite not-fishy tasting. The slightly spicy (알큰추어탕) version is really nice.

돼지갈비찜: Doeji Galbi Jjim. Hit and miss, from the right place it can be totally awesome. Super-spicy (if they make it right) pork stew, the thicker it is, the better it is.

Sprout 비빔밥: I can't remember the Korean for "sprout" right now. There's a rest stop on the highway (19?) from Chungju to Cheongju, near EumSeong that has all these crazy statues welded together out of old car parts. Upstairs, only open seasonally, and nearly impossible to spot is a restaurant that specializes in sprouts. Bean, alfalfa, onion etc. The salad and the bibimbap are both awesome. I've been to this rest stop a half dozen times and only noticed the restaurant the last time I went.

만두 and 김밥: Self-explanatory. I've known a few weigukins who came here and lived off the stuff. Kimchi version of the former and Chamchi (tuna) version of the latter are the best.

This thread is killing me, I skipped breakfast to be on time for a class that ended up not starting today like I was told it would and it's now ten minutes to lunch.

I had a good combination the other day consisting of ddeok galbi, with doenjang jiggae and mushroom jeon-gol. And i support gamjatang and deung-bbyeo jjim (the spine done a la galbi jjim).
