Sorry, I've used the search function thoroughly...I'm on my way back to K and have been spending time in my home country, where, at least where I live, things are nonpunishable. I am straight as an arrow in Korea. Starting a new job, and there'll be a test. I've heard so many back-and-forth comments about the relevance of pos. THC. Does anybody know for sure what's up? thanks~

Whoa...

You lived here, it is hoped that you learned the local mood toward certain mind-altering substances.

Flush it out before taking your 'test'

If you test positive for THC, then you have zero chance of getting a job in Korea. Furthermore, you may very well be deported.

You generally find that PS co-teachers are quite good in helping you delay your health check for a while. Just explain that you smoked weed before you came to Korea. They know that many foreigners smoke it every now and again.

You'll be fine!

Just fly halfway across the world, knowing full well that you may well be tested for THC. If you do test +ve just point out that you want to be re-tested, go to the toilet and then come back after a few minutes with an empty sample bottle.

Simply tell them you cannot provide a sample because you are very nervous and cannot pee.

Ask them if you can come back once your nerves have worn off. I'm sure they will be ok with this. Rolling Eyes

Spark up another few before you fly out!!! I've heard that if you smoke them whilst hanging upside down the THC cannot enter you blood stream as well. This has been proven recentally by some scientists in the UK.

I will try and find the link - i'll get back to you......

Sigh...according to the new E2 regs, there will NOT be a THC test. The test that they do now is for coke and amphetamines.

Also, the hospital test is a pee test anyways, thc should be out of your system in one or two months if you go cold turkey.

This is utterly wrong.

Oh really? How so? According to immigration laws, it is correct.

If you get tested, somehow, after arriving in Korea and passing your first test, then yeah you're gone. But the THC test has been removed from the initial drug tests that immi requires.

I was told by the police that testing positive for drugs is the same crime as possession of them. I am not sure if it is entirely true but that is what a police officer told me. There were a few guys about 3 years ago that tested positive for narcotic substances (I don't know which drugs, they are all the same to me) they all got huge fines and jail time. Not a lot something like 6 months.

Just because immigration law doesn't require the THC test, it doesn't mean that hospitals all know or care. Many still run the test .....

It's Hyehwa station. It's also the only area of Seoul where you can legally smoke marijuana as long as you are in a government approved marijuana cafe.

Please do us a favor and stay home. If you have to ask questions like this, you can't handle the responsibility. In other words, the answer doesn't matter, it's the fact that you had to ask the question that's worrisome to those whose lives are inconvenienced by people who are irresponsible with their drug use.
