If you genuinely believe that curling should be of any particular importance to the average Korean, you're as blinkered as you're accusing them of being. When it comes to curling, Canada's the exception, not Korea.
I live in France and I can assure you that this event wouldn't register at all with the general population. The same can be said of many countries. |

| On the contrary, South Korea should be very interested in Curling. As they are pursuing a Winter Olympic bid, the more Winter Olympic sports they are good at, the better. As it stands now, they are only really good at Speed Skating. Improving their standing in other sports would show the world that South Korea was serious about their Winter Olympic bid. |

I went to a panther's game when I was in miami on business. God it was sad. They were basically giving away tickets and the place was 1/2 empty.
But yes.. curling in Korea is like a lot of other sports in a lot of other countries.. people aren't interested in all of them everywhere especially if there isn't any hometown players. |

| It just doesnt register as a sport. Why anyone would watch it I dont understand. Playing it , well sliding the thing-a ma-jig might be fun but waving the brooms, WTF.! It takes no atheletic skills what so ever! Now I did see the Denmark- China game and the Danish team was very nice to look at. Tiddily -winks is moire of a sport. |

I, for one, didn't know the shit was going on. Had I known, maybe I would have gone. I wonder, not only if the OP went to the event, but actively talked about it on this board or another online forum to get other foreigners to go.
At the end of the day, don't bitch about "the KOREANS" not doing something when you made zero effort to do it yourself. |

I take it you've never curled before? It requires lots of athletic skill.
Try sliding 8 metres or so crouched down on one foot, with a 40ish pound stone and keep your balance all the while looking to park that stone on a dime.
I've curled a few times in the past for charity events and the like, and I couldn't even keep my balance enough to actually slide the stone.I had to stay stationary like some idiot and push it down the ice!
I don't like curling and think it's boring, but it discredits the athletes and the sport itself by saying it requires no athletic skill.
Some of the shots they make are simply amazing and pure art. Try pushing yourself down the ice while sweeping furiously mere centimetres from the stone and avoid crashing into the other stones which are littered everywhere. |
